Seaford Striders success at the Martello Half Marathon with two top-five finishers!

On Sunday 27th March, nearly two years after the last event, 21 Seaford Striders lined up on Seaford Seafront for the Martello Half Marathon. It’s a tough course, starting on the flat before a tough climb up onto the Downs, before an exhilarating downhill section into Bishopstone, with a fast, flat finish back on Seaford Beach. This year two Seaford Striders finished within the Top Five Finishers – Phill Stevenson (4th) in 1:30:36 and Ollie Sprague (5th) in 1:33:21. An astounding result for both athletes on a challenging course. Samantha Alvarez was the first Strider lady home in 1:48:26. Other Striders to complete the race were: Damien (1:39:25), Simon Coppard (1:40:25) Joshua Nisbett (1:42:11), Rowan Tully (1:47:24), Joshua Rudd (1:47:27), Russell Hewlett (1:49:53), Martin Dallimer (1:51:52), Rob Sarjeant (1:52:52), Bryony Clarke (1:54:15), Adam Haverly (1:55:08), Carl Howard (2:06:43), Lisa Parkinson (2:09:13), Michelle Varndell (2:18:54), Trevor Jones (2:26:10), Sue Curtis (2:30:04), Victoria Maleski (2:58:04), Sandra Standen (2:58:07); and Sharon Plank (2:58:42).

Seaford Striders is open to all abilities from beginners who are welcome to join our Couch to 5K Programme to seasoned runners. We have five groups based on ability at our Wednesday Club Night. Please contact info@seafordstriders.org.uk for further information.
