Last Minute Artists are back at the Crypt Gallery in Church Street from Wednesday to Sunday 2nd to 6th November with an exhibition called … and the wee donkey. For more info turn to page 82. The space is taken over on Tuesday 22nd November by an exhibition called Brasspoint, running until Monday 28th November.
Cinema
Seaford Community Cinema is screening the 1940-set romcom Jack Absolute Flies Again under the NTLive banner at the BarnTheatre, Saxon Lane on Thursday 3rd November at 7pm. Starring Caroline Quentin as Mrs Malaprop and Laurie Davidson as airman Jack, it is written by Richard Bean, responsible for the hilarious One Man Two Guvnors, and Oliver Chris, and is based on Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The Rivals. Mark Rylance comedy vehicle Phantom of the Open (12A), on Friday 4th November at 7.30pm, sees him teeing off as the worst player ever to take part in the British Open). It’s back to wartime on Friday 11th November at 7.30pm with Operation Mincemeat (12), the film version of Ben Macintyre’s book of the same name, about two intelligence officers who make use of a corpse and false papers to outwit German troops in a bizarre operation. Colin Firth, Matthew McFadyen and Kelly Macdonald star. The crazy French film – with subtitles – La Belle Époque (15) can be seen on Friday 18th November at 7.30pm, in which a disillusioned sexagenarian (Daniel Auteuil) gets the chance to relive a pivotal week in his life; Fanny Ardant won the Best Supporting Actress César for her role. Everything Everywhere All at Once (15) is being shown on Friday 25th November at 7.30pm, about a woman battling problems including a failing business, a grumpy auditor

Go to The Old Plough in Church Street for a quiz on Tuesday 8th November, 7.30 for 8pm, to raise money for The Youth Counselling Project, also see page 60. Music
Nigel Goss presents Cushion the Blow – his band performing his folky, rocky, humorous and bittersweet songs (photo above) on 19th November. Splash Point Jazz has Mark Bassey on trombone topping the bill at The View, Seaford Golf Club, Southdown Road on Wednesday 9th November at 7pm, alongside singer and pianist Neal Richardson and his trio. The Seaford Choral Society Autumn Concert takes place on Saturday 26th November at Seaford Baptist Church with Brahms’ Requiem. Drama
Seaford Little Theatre is presenting Alan Ayckbourn’s farce Season’s Greetings at the theatre in Steyne Road from Friday 2nd until Saturday 10th December, excluding Wednesday 7th December. Performances start at 7.45pm except for that on Saturday 3rd December which starts at 2.30pm. Tickets from the Tourist Information Centre or from ticketsource.
