My forth Co-Op was Meisner + Associates a Landscape Architecture firm in Cincinnati Ohio. I worked on a variety of public and private projects aiding in CAD and graphic production. The primary project I worked on was landscaping redesigns for a few Rest Areas or Welcome Centers in Southern Ohio to create roadside park /arboretum areas. This also included working on a guidebook document to guide all future Rest Area Landscaping in Ohio.

Title: Subtitle Extra

My Forth Year Summer Studio included an analysis of Hydrology on the Fulton Place Site in the East End of Cincinnati. The site is currently an actively used barge and rail terminal along which is an important transportation junction for the Ohio River. Through studying the site from the perspective of the hydrology of the site my group was able to imagine a future of the site that included a more ecologically friendly site that filters and retains water that comes onto the site before it reaches the Ohio River while protecting and maintaining use during periods of flooding.

The hydrology group created a master plan that converts a primarily industrial site into a conservation and wetland park that can include areas of light industrial or mixed use all while connecting riverfront communities through elevated boardwalks that are still usable during periods of high water.

Bluegrass Land Conservancy Only in the Bluegrass

My third year planning studio worked with the Bluegrass Land Conservancy in Central Kentucky to produce a collection of story focused maps and graphics that can be accessed online to inform and educate the landowners of Kentucky to the importance of land conservation for preserving the natural character and history of the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. The application used was the Esri story maps application. The interactive story map can be viewed at this link: https://arcg.is/14DGOT

My second year planning studio focused on accessibility in planning. While finding a way to properly use a space for housing of sightless and visually impaired people I explored the idea of using a portion of a public park that is land owned by the client but being leased to the local government in North College Hill. My goal was to design a housing development that brought members of this community into this park while providing necessary amenities for visually impaired people.

17

I explored the idea that a healthy community behaves in a lot of ways like a jazz combo, each entity adopts a role; the rhythm, the roll, the melody and so on; all while the people keep the tempo. Different stakeholders in a community may fill a role but it is all in service of the people. When designing a space, making it as usable as possible with the smallest impact on nature and with the maximum equality for a community is my primary goal.
