You start it when you first start making your design and it doesn't end till you have finished making your product. Takes lots of photos, make notes on any modification and add sketches and diagrams.

Introduction •

My client, “The Lov@ics” is a newly formed band and they need to be promoted and they want to advertise themselves. The band plays in a wide range of genre, from pop,rock to r&b and because of that, they need an attractive and promotional advertisement that will make them famous and is suitable for people from all ages.

Through out the time given to complete this project, I will explore various ways and learn how to use different softwares so that I could help advertise the band.I will complete this project by following the 5 stages from the design cycle which are, investigate, design, plan, create and evaluate. First, I will hold an interview that would give me an understanding of what the band needs and wants. I will also investigate different case studies of what type of advertisements are being made. I will design 6 different possible designs and evaluate on each one of them by meeting them with the different design specifications such as size, time and safety. After I am done designing, I will also plan out a time table that would allow me to work more efficiently and allow me to complete in time. I will also plan out what tools and materials I will need. And lastly, I will start creating the advertisement by following my plan.

This project links to two of the Areas of Interaction, which are “human ingenuity”. This project relates to HUMAN INGENUITY because HUMAN INGENUITY is all about ideas and creations and in this project in this project I will be creating and designing an advertisement that will promote a band. I will also be using my understanding about the design cycle to complete this project. By using the design cycle, I will be thinking different possible ideas and ways to investigate, design, plan, create and evaluate the project. Therefore HUMAN INGENUITY relates most to this project.

Client Interview 1. What type of media do you want to use for your advertisement? Our band wants a website for our advertisement. We want a unique website that explains who we are. We want the website to have bright colors and we also want our logo and our Music CD cover to be included on the website which you will help us design!

2. What type of theme do you want your advertisement to have? We want the website to have bright colors and that has a abstract theme

3. What logo do you want your band to have?

We want 2 logos, a symbolic logo as well as a logo showing our band name. We want the logo to have a brush stroke font and include the colors black and red.

4. How do you want your CD cover to look like? We want a simple design that includes our logo and we also want to include the album name which is called “Broken’ and the songs in this album are mostly pop-rock. Please also include the colors, black and red.

5. What do you think the layout of the website should be? I think the layout of the website should be unique. We want opening page to promote our new album and have the link “enter” it. Then the home page should be simple. The band name on the top and the logo down at the bottom

Interview Summary From the interview with my client, I found out that the band wants a website for their advertisement. They want a unique website that explains who they are and they also want the website to have a bright colors. Case Study Summary From the case study, I found out that most of the bands use websites to promote their band and in the website, they usually include events and news about the band. From all the case study I found out that the audiences are the people who likes and know the band or people who is interested and wants to find out more about them. The websites is also usually used to promote their music, concert and the band itself. From the case study, I also found out that bands use video advertisement to promote them self and their music. From the video advertisement I researched on, it includes and inform the audiences about the new album. By doing this, they promote their new album as well as the band. My last case study is a flyer, flyers are usually used for promoting the events such as concerts.

From my research, I think fourfour isn’t a very great online tool to create an website. I created a account and tried using it. There isn’t many themes to choose from and the system of making the website isn’t very efficient.

Summary for the 3 researches I researched 3 different online tool to help me create a band website, and they are wix, bandzoogle and fourfour. Wix is a great tool to help me create a flash band website. It is free, easy to use and gives a wide range of choices of themes and features. Wix also provide us with a editing program that allows us to just drag, drop, position and customize the things we insert on our website. The second tool was bandzoogle. Bandzoogle is similar to wix, they are both free and also have a wide range of themes to choose from. But bandzoogleâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s editing system isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t very efficient. The last research I did was fourfour. Fourfour is not very helpful or efficient. Fourfour has a very bad editing program and have very little choice of themes and features to choose from. Overall, I think wix is the best program to use for designing and creating my product.

impact to The Environment and the society The Environment When creating the website for advertising, there are some impacts to our environment. Using the computer is one of the impacts, it is a impact to our environment because of the creation of the computers. Computers are made in factories and factories causes air pollution, we need the laptop in order to publish and view the advertisement. In order to let people view my website, there will not only be computers needed but the internet are also needed. WiFi machines are also created in factories and therefore causing air pollution. To function all electrical hard wares we will need to use electricity, and when electricity are produced for people to use, pollution is caused.

The Society The impact of publishing the website for the band to the society is that it can help people make their decision by persuading the website viewers so that either they like the band or dislike and either they want to buy their music or not. And as more people view the website than it might effect upon the trends in the music society. It might also effect the critics of the society, the website might effect how they think and criticize the band.

Design Brief I will design and create an website that helps promote a band called â&#x20AC;&#x153;The Lovaticsâ&#x20AC;?. This product will be made by following the five steps of the design cycle, which are investigation, design, plan, create and evaluation. Through out the time given to complete this project, I will complete this project by following the 5 stages from the design cycle which are, investigate, design, plan, create and evaluate. Investigation Summary During the Investigation stage, the interview that was done with my client provided me information about what kind of advertisement do they want and what other things I should included in my advertisement. Next, the case study I did gave me a sense of what type of advertisement are being made, for example the aesthetics, the cost and the customer. I also researched on different tools I could use to create my advertisement, I compared the three different tools and decided what is the best tool I should use. I also did an research about the impacts on the environment and the society. Last, the specification and the testing provided me a guide that I will be following to make the advertisement that promotes the band called the â&#x20AC;&#x153;Lovaticsâ&#x20AC;?

Peer Evaluation I really like design number two, because it’s eye-‐catching, people will s9ck to the website because usually people will leave a boring old plane website. Plus the colors mix in together with my album “Unbroken”. The website supports the visitors to buy my albums and that it’s actually adver9sing my career. It also shows examples of my music so people can have some samples of my songs before they buy it. I chose this design because my client request me to create a website and this design also meets all the speciﬁcation. This design is great, it is simple and most important of all, it is able to promote the band and their music. This design can also be created with the required color and it is easy to be created using a software called wix. I can manage to complete this advertisement in time because I had already used wix before, so therefore I know what I’m doing and how I can do it. The website includes least then 7 pages. They are, about us, home, contact, guestbook, video, gallery and news. This design has a simple but unique look. It is well organized and it includes the colors required which are red black and white. The website design does not include any inappropriate content and does not include violence so therefore, this design is safe for all people from all ages.

The design is safe because it does not include any violence, bad language and other inappropriate contents. Wix is a free online website creator. It has a wide range of designs and themes that is suitable for making a band website. The website allows you to edit the website freely, you can drag, drop, rotate and posi9on the widgets and text anywhere you want. Using wix, I can create an website in an organized way and can be made similar to my design.

iMovie is a school provided soKware that will help create the short video clip for the website. It has a range of themes, transi9ons, texts and it is really easy to use. The soKware allows you to drag, drop, crop and edit video clips. We can also voice over and use many other features. Keynote is a school provided soKware that will help me create images of album covers and the band logo for the website. It has a range of tools such as alpha, text box and many other. Evaluation of Plan During the planning stage, I created gan3 chart which allowed me to plan out my 8me table for the crea8ng stage. Then I created a step by step plan showing images of how the process is done. I stated out the tools needed in the step by step plan and I also wrote it in the correct order. I also listed and explained all the tools and materials needed during the create stage. I stated what the tools could do and how I could make my product using that tool. Lesson 1: October 4th During the first lesson, I chose a theme using Wix and I completed editing and decoration the first page of the website. I also completed most of the images and logos I need for the website using photoshop as well as keynote. I think I worked very efficient and productive this lesson and I was able to complete a lot of steps. From what I have done I think, I will be able to complete it in time and I think using wix is very easy.

Lesson 2: October 5th During the second lesson, I used the pictures I created to insert into the website. I create 2 new page which are the gallery and the news. For the gallery, I used the tool â&#x20AC;&#x153;galleryâ&#x20AC;? from wix to create the gallery page. The second page I created which is the news page, I created a page group to allow me to have many pages for the news. I find it hard to create the news page because you have to group the gages and add a menu to allow the navigation for the different pages. I also added music to the main page as well the website. I used the music that is suitable. I think I worked well this lesson and I was very productive.

Lesson 3: October 6th During the third lesson, I create a short clip following one of the designs I created for the videos. I used different music video I got from you tube to advertise the songs for the songs of the new album â&#x20AC;&#x153;BROKENâ&#x20AC;?. I created the clip using imovie.Using the movie, I created a movie page for the website. For the movie page, I used the video template provided from wix to create the video page. I think I worked well this lesson and I was very productive.

I completed all the pages needed because during this lesson I created the about page. In the about page I added information about who the band is and the different music they play. Evaluation of Investigation Stage During the Investigation stage, I conducted an interview, a case study and I also researched on different tools I could use to create my advertisement, I compared the three different tools and decided what is the best tool I should use. I also did an research about the impacts on the environment and the society. Last, the created different specifications for my product. Overall I think I did well for my investigation stage, I was able to complete all the steps and requirements. I worked well and I was able to complete in time.

Successful Points Overall, I think I was successful because I was able to work efficiently and I was also able to complete all the requirements of the design cycle. I completed 6 designs that are creative but simple. I planned out a realistic and detailed plan. Lastly, I was able to create my product on time and I was able to follow the plan and the design. Overall, I did well.

Least Successful Points Even though I was successful, I still think there are some least successful point. Some of the least successful point could be that I didn始t insert much information about the band in the website and I also think I need to add more news about the band.
