You are invited to participate in the Tinsel, Trees, and Toys fundraiser to benefit foster children in White County! White County businesses, organizations and philanthropic individuals will be decorating their own Christmas trees and setting them on display at Providence Assisted Living on Moore Street from November 19th to December 16th. The trees themselves, including their decor, will be auctioned off via silent auction at 2pm on December 16th. The tree with the most gifts under it will be announced in the next issue of Searcy Living! To cast your vote for a tree simply place a child’s present under that tree. Multiple votes are encouraged and appreciated!!! Volunteers will contact the winning bidders to arrange the pick-up of their trees on December 17th. All proceeds from the auction will be used to purchase Christmas presents for foster children in White County. To find out more information, please call (501) 230-4670. Thank you, and we hope that you will join us in making Christmas special for the over 100 foster children in White County.

Last Call Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house not a creature was praying not one in the house

And though I possess worldly wisdom and wealth, I cried when I saw Him, in spite of myself

Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care In hopes that Jesus Christ would not come there

In the Book of Life which was held in His hand, Was written the name of every saved man

The children were dressing to crawl into bed, Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head

He spoke not a word as he searched for my name; When He said "it's not there" my head hung down in shame

And mom in her rocker with baby on her lap, Was watching the late show while I took a nap

The people whose names had been written with love, He gathered to take, to His Father above

When out of the East there arose such a clatter I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter

With those who were ready He rose without a sound, While all the rest of us were left standing around

Away to the window I flew like a flash Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

I fell to my knees but it was too late I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate

When what to my wondering eyes should appear But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here!

I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight Oh, if only I had been ready tonight

With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray, I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear The coming of Jesus is now drawing near

The light of His face made me cover my head, It was Jesus returning just like He had said

Theres only one life and when comes the last call We'll find that the Bible was true after all.

Taco Stuff in a Skillet By Tanya Leckie

Originally this recipe called for a can of store bought tomato soup but I just couldn’t do it. I researched, tried, and refined until I concocted my own version of Campbells’ famous delicacy. If you just want to try it by itself simply omit everything except what you make in a saucepan initially; hey, if this and a good grilled cheese is all you want, go right ahead. This dish, with the exception of the initial saucepan of soup, is made completely in a cast iron skillet. I do love a cast iron skillet, I must admit! This is gluten free and makes enough for 6 average servings. I normally just serve this with tortilla chips and salsa or cheese dip. It’s a great comfort meal for cooler weather, too. Enjoy! ingredients 1 Tbsp olive oil 1 Tbsp finely diced onion 1/2 tsp minced garlic 8 ounces tomato sauce 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp dried basil 3 ounces tomato paste About 1/2 c milk 1 lb lean ground beef 1/2 c real sour cream (Daisy is a great brand) 1/2 c thick salsa 1/2 c water 6 corn tortilla, cut into 1” pieces 1/2 - 1 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese

In a small/medium saucepan sauté onion and garlic in olive oil over low heat until onion is transparent and tender; stir in tomato sauce, salt, basil, tomato paste and milk and stir until well mixed. Set this soup mixture aside. In a large cast iron skillet brown ground beef over medium heat, stirring often to break up any chunks; stir in soup mixture, sour cream, salsa, and water. Add tortilla pieces and mix well. Allow to become hot throughout then remove from heat and top with cheese. So easy!
