Our Seaside Resorts, Saltburn by the Sea.

The ‘London Society’ was an illustrated monthly magazine of ‘light and amusing literature for the hours of relaxation’. It was originally published in London by W Clowes and Sons between the dates of February 1862 and December 1898. The photographic images in the article are by Arthur Brown who was at this time Saltburn’s Post Master and is described in the article as an accomplished photographer. According to the 1871 census he was living on Dundas Street, with his wife and four children, aged 48 and was born in Stephing, Sussex.
