Grand opening set for Encinitas Community Park

he new year will bring a new park to Encinitas. The city plans to host a grand opening celebration for Encinitas Community Park on Saturday, Jan. 10. The Encinitas City Council and Mayor Kristin Gaspar will be on hand for the “Day in the Park” festivities, which will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. at 425 Santa Fe Drive. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies are planned for the Skate Park, Maggie Houlihan Memorial

John and Pete Najjar, owners of Cardiff Seaside Market, will the parade route this year. Organizers said the parade will also honor the brothers for their community service. The two brothers who opened Seaside Market in Cardiff nearly 30 years ago are a “huge part of the community,” said their nephew John Shamam, who works as store manager. The Najjar brothers, who
