STUDENTS: SKIP TO STEP 3 ON NEXT PAGE)

We are committed to helping you and your family understand and manage the investment of a Seattle University education. All applicants are considered for merit scholarships at the time of admission and admitted students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for additional financial aid such as grants, low-cost student loans and work-study. While filing the FAFSA is not required, it is highly recommended.

• Access the FAFSA online at FAFSA.GOV. Filing for the 2023-2024 academic year began October 1, 2022.

• When asked to list the schools you would like your FAFSA results sent to, be sure to list SU’s federal school code: 003790.

• Students and parents must sign the FAFSA electronically using the Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) obtained at FSAID.ED.GOV

• Fall quarter students who submit a completed FAFSA to Seattle University by February 1, 2023, will receive priority consideration for Seattle University institutional aid.

• Washington residents who are undocumented or do not qualify for federal financial aid because of their immigration status may be eligible for state aid by submitting the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA). Visit WSAC.WA.GOV/WASFA for more information.

• Typically, fall quarter applicants who meet the February 1 priority processing deadline receive financial aid notification by late March.

• To review the total cost of a Seattle University education, visit SEATTLEU.EDU/COSTS

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES OR APPEALS

If there have been significant changes in either your own or your family’s financial circumstances that could not be included or explained by the information required on the FAFSA/WASFA, contact Student Financial Services after you get your initial offer letter. Student Financial Services will inform you if additional documentation is required.

For more information about filing the FAFSA/WASFA or Seattle University’s financial aid awarding process, visit SEATTLEU.EDU/FINANCIAL-AID or contact Student Financial Services at financialservices@seattleu.edu or 206-220-8020.

WINTER AND SPRING QUARTER APPLICANTS

Seattle University institutional aid is available to students enrolling during winter and spring quarters. For financial aid consideration for both quarters, students must complete their financial aid file 60 days prior to the start of classes. Students whose FAFSAs are filed after this deadline will be considered for any remaining financial aid.

AFTER CONFIRMING

HOUSING

Seattle University is a residential campus and the residential experience is an integral part of a student’s education. Therefore, all full-time first-year and sophomores are required to live on campus and purchase a meal plan.

In late winter, admitted fall quarter students will have access to a Housing Guide that will outline on-campus logistics, residence hall details and theme community descriptions. Students who confirm enrollment will receive additional information in early May about how to submit housing preferences and roommate selection via the Seattle University Housing Application.

Visit SEATTLEU.EDU/HOUSING for more information on the housing process and policies or contact Housing and Residence Life with any questions concerning housing or meal plans at 206-296-6305 or housing@seattleu.edu.

ORIENTATION AND FALL QUARTER COURSE REGISTRATION

Orientation begins virtually over the summer and continues in-person during Fall Welcome (September 16-23, 2023). Your orientation includes opportunities to make new friends, learn about support resources, participate in campus traditions and have a successful start to your Redhawk journey.

During orientation, you will meet with your Academic Advisor and register for fall quarter courses. More information about orientation and course registration will be sent to you in May after you have confirmed your enrollment.

STARTING WINTER, SPRING OR SUMMER QUARTER?

Visit SEATTLEU.EDU/ADMITTED to access a checklist of items you will need to complete, including important items such as course registration and housing information. More information about orientation will be sent to you after you have confirmed your enrollment.

DECIDING NOT TO ATTEND?

If you have decided not to enroll at Seattle University, please notify the Admissions Office by visiting ADMISSIONS.SEATTLEU.EDU/PORTAL/STATUS and completing the Admissions Response Form.

SUBMIT FINAL TRANSCRIPTS

As stated in your letter of admission, initial admission is provisional and contingent upon the successful completion of any coursework in progress. Enrolling first-year students must submit final transcripts from high school, as well as any colleges attended, listing all final grades, and confirming graduation by July 15, 2023, if enrolling for fall quarter.

Please note that if your academic performance declines after you are admitted, bringing your cumulative grade point average below an acceptable level, if you drop or fail coursework in which you were enrolled at the time of admission or fail to graduate, Seattle University reserves the right to withdraw admission. It is essential that you confer with Admissions Office personnel promptly if you experience any of these academic difficulties following your initial admission.

SUBMIT EXAM RESULTS

First-year students are also required to submit any official Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or Cambridge examination scores to the Admissions Office by July 15, 2023 (or when first available).

Seattle University requires your current address, phone number and email. Advise the Admissions Office of any changes, current or pending, at ADMISSIONS.SEATTLEU.EDU/APPLY/STATUS under “Verify Address.”

CHANGE OF MAJOR

Notify the Admissions Office in writing if you wish to change your major. In your SU Admissions portal at ADMISSIONS.SEATTLEU.EDU/APPLY/STATUS look for “Update Your Application.” A change of major will require a review of your academic record to determine eligibility for the intended major.

TUITION DUE DATE

Tuition is due September 20, 2023, for fall quarter. For a list of tuition payment dates for specific quarters, refer to the Student Billing and Payment page at SEATTLEU.EDU/STUDENT-PAYMENT.
