SUZY BARNARD & SUZIE BUCHHOLZ DANCING ON WATER

Two painters, Suzy Barnard and Suzie Buchholz, work in their respective studios near the water’s edge on opposite sides of the San Francisco Bay, separated but also deeply connected by the power of the sea. This body of work is a vivid demonstration of each artists’ private conversations with the marine environment and their shared interactions with each other’s work. At the center of the exhibition are five collaborative paintings. Barnard and Buchholz worked on each piece alone, passing them back and forth, responding to the other’s movements and marks with a fluidity and synergy that powerfully represents the artists’ talents and techniques. Also included in this collection are individual paintings by Barnard and Buchholz, presented both as solitary works and intermixed.
