Find support, connection and resources for your family! Join a virtual PEPS Group and meet other new parents with babies close in age to yours. Our programs focus on babies’ development and building a community of support. Trained facilitators host weekly discussions designed to help parents cope with the challenges of adjusting to their new roles and find connection. PEPS offers programs for expectant parents and new parents, and pilot programs for families sharing identities that intersect with their identity as a parent. Weekday and weeknight options are available, with more than 400 families meeting each month. Flexible Pricing program fees are offered for all groups.

Northwest Harvest is the only nonprofit food bank distributor operating statewide in Washington with a network of 375 food banks, meal programs and high-need schools. Families can help in the Kent warehouse by sorting and repackaging bulk food. At the Cherry Street Food Bank, volunteers sort and distribute food and make sandwiches for the sack lunch program. Shifts are a minimum of 2 hours and must be scheduled in advance. Families are also encouraged to host food drives in their neighborhoods.

Age requirements vary by project, story time volunteers commit to a full school year Guided by the fact that literacy is essential to lifelong success, Page Ahead provides new books and develops reading activities that empower at-risk children in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. Through its programs, Page Ahead works to erase the early reading gap for under resourced children before it becomes an achievement gap. Teens can apply to become story time volunteers, reading to preschool and kindergarten classes, singing songs and creating simple crafts with kids during the

school day (must commit to a full school year). Youth can also sort books, help with administrative work or organize a drive for new children’s books.

Ideas to help shelter animals might include raising funds, collecting donated items, creating crate “advertisements” about adoptable animals or making toys and blankets. Grades 8 and higher with minimum 2.7 GPA Team Read helps Seattle’s public elementary school students achieve reading success by pairing youth tutors with second- and third-grade students who are reading below grade level in 12 elementary schools across the city, Volunteer coaches tutor their students after school to improve reading skills and serve as meaningful role models. High school coaches can satisfy community service hours, earn hourly pay or deferred college tuition. All eighth-grade coaches are volunteers. Applications to coach are accepted twice a year.

Youth-specific work parties provide a unique opportunity for young people to learn about trail maintenance while meeting other people. High school students can spend a week on the trail during a “Youth Vacation,” when they learn about building and maintaining hiking trails in a teamwork-oriented environment.
