FIVE REASONS TO ENRICHING BITE-SIZED CONCERTS
3 4 5
You don’t have to be a musical genius to enjoy the masterpieces of classical music. But knowing what to listen for enriches your enjoyment and that’s what our Untuxed host Jonathan Green (one of our bass players) is there to do. Jonathan connects all sorts of dots in his talks, all of which aim to enhance your listening pleasure.
NEW EXPERIENCES Each concert will offer different ways to broaden your experience. You might actually sit on stage for one concert or chat over postconcert drinks with a musician the next. Our aim each performance is to surprise you with new ways to connect to the music and the musicians.
BITE-SIZED CONCERTS Sometimes an hour or so of music is just enough. Untuxed concerts are short and intermission free. Plus, they start at 7pm, leaving you to spend the rest of the evening as you want.
YOU DO YOU Hey, the orchestra isn’t dressing up for these concerts so you don’t need to either—unless you want to, which is fine too! The point is, Untuxed concerts are against stereotype and a little more carefree, like that crazy, charming uncle who shakes things up at family gatherings.
IT’S A DEAL! This isn’t a typo. Buy any 3 concerts for as little as $51 and we will add free parking at Benaroya Hall. Same deal applies if you decide to buy all 5 concerts for as little as $75.

BEETHOVEN SYMPHONY NO. 4 UNTUXED Ludovic Morlot, conductor Jonathan Green, host MENDELSSOHN: String Quartet No. 6 in F minor BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 4 Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 6 delivers wave after wave of intense emotion, from passion and anguish to tenderness and grace. This masterful music inspires total focus and presence—just like Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, which sweeps you from tense foreboding to sweet joy and all the way to rowdy humor by the end.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13, AT 7PM
BRUCH UNTUXED Thomas Dausgaard, conductor Henning Kraggerud, violin Jonathan Green, host
The fluid music of John Adams’ Scheherezade.2 is as seductive as its namesake—the heroine of The Arabian Nights—but this modern spin on the tale addresses our current reality, invoking the irrepressible power of women and the wonder of the divine feminine. Elgar’s Military March No. 3, still relevant after more than a century, challenges us to consider how society approaches war.

Music can also offer a guilt-free escape, like a visit to The Enchanted Lake, a shimmering paradise dreamed up by the Russian composer Liadov.
