WELCOME TO OUR COMMUNITY! From the sparkling waters of Puget Sound to the grassy Union Green on campus, Seattle surrounds you with the beauty of nature and the fun of a big city. The Seattle University campus is located in Capitol Hill, home to world-class restaurants, a lively nightlife, and more than 100 coffee shops. Downtown Seattle is just over the hill. Lakes, forests, mountain trails, and ski slopes are all a short drive away. Nearly 40 student organizations help you connect with classmates and develop your legal interests. A few examples include the Women’s Law Caucus, Black Law Student Association, Latinx Law Student Association, OutLaws, and the Business and Entrepreneurship Law Association. Students host bake sales, karaoke nights, puppy playdates for stress relief, and countless other fun activities.

“Join different organizations, attend any event that sounds interesting, and get to know your colleagues. Your educational experience will become much more enriching when you dive into the legal community and surround yourself with a diverse support system.” ALLYSON (SAM) SUNG, 3L q

Student camaraderie is a hallmark of our law school, particularly within the part-time, evening program. Your law school classmates will be your friends for life.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM We combine rigorous classroom instruction with ample opportunities to learn by doing – writing, speaking, advocating for clients – in the real world. Ronald A. Peterson Law Clinic: A pro bono law firm within the law school. Students earn school credit representing real clients under the supervision of a professor. Clinics cover immigration law, workers’ rights, and consumer advocacy, among others. Externship Program: Earn school credit while working at an advocacy organization, government office, or court. Approximately 800 sites in Washington, the U.S., and throughout the world. Legal Internships: Valuable work experience in a paid or unpaid position, usually in the summer.

Our Semester in Olympia program takes you where the action is; you’ll learn from legislators and policy makers in the state’s gorgeous capital. Spend a summer or your third year at our Alaska Satellite Campus for an unforgettable legal adventure. LAW.SEATTLEU.EDU/CLINIC

“The clinic was the first time I could take what I had learned at school and use it to help others. I believe that I grew more as a young lawyer in the three months in the clinic than I did in my whole first year of school.” CONNOR SMITH ‘18

“I made the decision to come to law school for the same reasons that I joined the service: to be a part of something bigger and create lasting, positive change.” EFRAIN HUDNELL, 2L

PUT YOUR EDUCATION TO WORK “I’ve learned so much about networking, and I find it valuable in shaping the way I learn and behave in law school, especially since the downtown law firms are so close to campus. The professors and lawyers serve as resources to help me understand that law school is more than just reading textbooks.” ROSEMARY KIM, 2L q

Our alumni are defenders, prosecutors, and judges. They are partners at large and small firms, they fight global disease, serve marginalized communities, and launch innovative tech startups. Career counselors in our Center for Professional Development are dedicated to helping students meet their goals. Services continue indefinitely, even after you graduate. → Comprehensive review of job application materials

→ Career fairs

→ Mock interviews

→ And much more…

→ On-campus interviews

→ Networking events More than 150 employers come to campus every year to meet and interview our students. We co-host the region’s largest public service career fair. Our popular immersion program every spring features field trips to the region’s leading technology employers, such as Microsoft and Amazon, as well as cutting–edge startups. LAW.SEATTLEU.EDU/CAREERS

ADVOCATE FOR JUSTICE Our law school’s core social justice mission is widely reflected in our curriculum, our student organizations, and our centers and institutes. The Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality combats discrimination and trains the next generation of advocates. Executive Director Robert Chang authored multiple legal briefs challenging the White House travel ban, including at the U.S. Supreme Court. LAW.SEATTLEU.EDU/KOREMATSU The Access to Justice Institute supports students and alumni in public interest and social justice pursuits. ATJI coordinates our awardwinning Moderate Means Program, spearheads our innovative Low Bono Incubator, and matches students with skill-building volunteer opportunities to help underserved communities. LAW.SEATTLEU.EDU/ATJI

YOU’RE NOT JUST A NUMBER Our acclaimed Access Admission Program recognizes students from historically disadvantaged and underrepresented communities. We believe that for these students – 10% of each incoming class – potential is measured in grit and intellectual curiosity not adequately reflected in LSATs and GPAs. Our robust Academic Resource Center offers support and tools for success for all students, including workshops, study sessions, and individual counseling. Law school is tough, but eminently doable. ARC makes sure you know that there’s a place for you in the legal profession. LAW.SEATTLEU.EDU/ARC

“Everyone at the law school genuinely wants students to succeed and are committed to going the extra mile to ensure that they do. I have never felt so supported.” SHAQUELLE DUNCAN, 2L
