Co-Curricular Booklet

Introduction

Involvement in Co-curricular activities has always been a strong tradition at St Edmund’s College Canberra.

These activities are designed to complement the religious and academic development of our students through a feeling of identity, belonging and happiness. They provide another opportunity for contact between staff and students, an area of common interest and this frequently improves the rapport in the classroom. A sense of pride and tradition is built through these activities.

Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh award is an opportunity for students to embrace a philosophy of ‘experimental learning’, which is a process of making meaning from direct experiences. To earn an Award, each student must learn a skill, improve their physical well-being, volunteer in their community and experience a team adventure in a new environment. The staff coordinator will oversee student’s efforts in each of these areas while providing opportunities throughout the year to go on hikes. On these adventures students will be able to learn new skills and on the way more about themselves.
