UTILITY PAYMENT SCAM HITS SECO MEMBERS Sumterville – December 22, 2015. SECO Energy is warning its members that the nationwide scam targeting utility customers through email and phone has made its way to the Central Florida area. This week, several SECO Energy members reported receiving phone calls threatening disconnection of service if payment was not immediately rendered by phone. The company verified that these accounts were not past due. If you receive a call threatening the disconnection of service, immediately hang up and call SECO Energy directly to verify the status of your account. Or you may establish or log in to your SECO Energy SmartHub online account to confirm the status of your account.

SECO Energy is a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving nearly 200,000 consumers across the Florida counties of Sumter, Citrus, Marion, Lake, Levy, Pasco and Hernando. SECO is the third largest electric co-op in Florida and the seventh largest in the nation.
