Bishop’s Epistle
October 9, 2016
The Fire of Pentecost Enthusiasm Burning in the Saints! (Acts 2: 1-4; 40-47) People of the Cross of Calvary, Grace to you! My Love Epistle to you seeks to stir up your enthusiasm for the Lord God in sanctuary worship and praise beyond the walls. The Greek word for enthusiasm is ‘enthusiasmos,’ meaning “in God,” or “inspired by God.” Spirit-baptism transforms non-saints to sainthood. When we become Spirit filled (controlled by the Holy Spirit), the fire of the Spirit burns out anything which would keep us cold, indifferent, cautious or constricted.
THEME: STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE, ADVANCING THE KINGDOM!

Enthusiasm is God’s own life-affirming, creative, positive Spirit, who cleanses and then charges us with uncontainable excitement in worship and living. The identifiable, outward manifestation of the fire of the new birth burning in the saints is willingness and warmth. Enthusiasm for Christ Jesus will make us wide open to people and the immense possibilities offered in each relationship. Resistance to life will be replaced by receptivity.
Expression of Welcome to Parish Members/Visitor Darius Scott
I call upon all of you to “rejoice always.” That, for me, means to welcome life in to scan and praise God for what happens to and around us.
Choir Selection--------------------------Anointed Voices of Praise
The key to unlocking both challenge and the concern of life is to rejoice with enthusiasm. This is not simplistic sentimentalism. It is rooted in a profound trust that God can use everything. In such a time, we can discover new truth and advance through life’s pleasant and painful experiences.
Selection: Christian Cadets Children’s Choir--Kathleen Dantzler (Ministry to Children, Diakona Larry Willis, Director)
I have experienced that when disappointment or setbacks hit us, they all contain hidden joy. I learned how to wade into impossibilities with enthusiasm because I have also learned that the Christian’s most pressing problems in the past forced me to learn two essential lessons from life’s situations: (1) God is in charge, and (2) the saints have grown most when we trusted Him in spite of difficulties. When rejoicing sincerely in worship, it enables us to embrace the ups and downs of life without reservation. When we expect to discover truth and growth from each person or circumstance, we are not disappointed. I pray that you will let enthusiasm grow in you beginning today.
