BIRTH, LIFE, DEATH, RESURRECTION OF JESUS - THE SAINTS’ HOPE! (ROMANS 6:3—23)
THEME: STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE, ADVANCING THE KINGDOM!
The Call to Worship--------------------Lyceum Council of Elders Hymn of Rejoicing------------“Joy To The World” #61
HOLY ONES OF GOD! GRACE TO YOU! The Holy Bible clearly teaches saints understanding and experience of our new birth in Christ Jesus. The Lord vividly pictures the before and after conditions of our lives. Prior to being born again, we are dead in an old nature, unable to respond. So, God gives us faith to believe. In my above passage the key to this is in the purpose of verse 8 - “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.” We are born again when we die with Christ and are resurrected to new life in Him. When reading the whole epistle of Romans, we discover that the new birth is as a death and resurrection experience. We die to our self, our plan, our purposes, our presuppositions. By the power of God, we are raised up to a new life. Our lives should be radically different because of this experience. Therefore, this high holy season of the Christmastide fills us with a greater appreciation of Him displayed in joy. A sure sign of our rebirth is lively hope; hope is always future! That’s the triumph and not about the born-again experience. Our present resurrection from death of self to a deathless life gives us courage to face life’s problems and disappointments with the sure conviction that our Lord will intervene and infuse His power in our times of need. We can face anything with that assurance. Hope provides patience. The shortness of time and the length of eternity give us patience with the trifles of life. A born-again person knows he belongs to Christ. His nature is being reproduced in him. Think of what the future could be if your sole purpose was to bring reconciliation among your family, friends, and people in your community. Picture what you would be like as a peace-possessed saint. Then use your imagination to focus what you will be like as you communicate Christ’s peace in active peacemaking. Thank the Lord that it shall be so by His power in you. Now, let this day and everyday be holy unto the Lord! Amen Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully, Bishop Dr. Wm. LaRue Dillard, Parish-Under-shepherd
