IS SEEMINGLY UNANSWERED PRAYER A LACK OF FAITH? (II Corinthians 12:7-10) Sons and Daughters of my Flock, Grace to you!

I put pen to paper with the thought of what I’ve been through in the last month or so. The following words rekindled within me what I was thinking and feeling in my spirit the other day after reading the following: “Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.

Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ my rest upon you” (II Corinthians 12:8,9).

I suppose I count myself among those saints who have experienced what seems to be an unanswered prayer even though I have kept up a consistent prayer life throughout my ministry. We, too, become impatient when we have asked God repeatedly about a problem, sickness or need and are forced to wait for an answer.

Waiting becomes excruciating as it did for me since March 15, 2017, until now with pain of shingles ripping through my body day and night. Why does God answer some prayers right away and others take longer? How do we accept the No’s of life as God’s timing? When will the problem I’ve fasted and prayed about be taken care of? The questions seem endless.

Waiting is not easy for any of us. Impatience is a persistent problem. But waiting for the Lord to answer our prayers is the most different of all. We begin to feel rejected, let down and unloved. We pray for guidance, healing, a resolution of misunderstanding in our fellowship with the Lord Christ.

My text is a cause in focus for all of us regardless of what physical problem with which we are suffering. Reread this passage this week II Corinthians 12: 7-10. This truth enables us to share in Paul’s pain and his discovery. Our thorn can be whatever is painful or difficult physically, spiritually or relationally.

We’ve asked to be healed or removed, yet have been forced to wait with no apparent answer to our prayers. Whatever it is, this much must be said: It is ours and why the Lord does not take it away from us is our personal dilemma. Amen Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully, Bishop Dr. Wm.
