Bishop’s Epistle

August 13, 2017

SPIRIT BAPTIZED TO BECOME CHRISTLIKE! Precious Souls of my Flock, Grace to You! The Lord Jesus says: “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!” (Matthew 10:24-25). Those of you of my parish flock I pray that you all are Spirit-baptized Christians. May I say there is no other type of Christian. The sublime example of the beauty of sharing Jesus Christ, who came to reveal His Father, ‘YAHWEH’, what He is like and what Christians were meant to be. Jesus, (YESHUA) as the Son of God, reveals God’s nature and as the Son of Man, He makes known the potential person each of us is called to become. But the new person you and I are to be cannot be realized by our trying harder or striving for perfection. The Holy Bible says; “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). When Christ Jesus takes up residence in us, He makes us like Himself. You may say: “I must try to do better in giving myself away.” This will only result in continued failure and self-incrimination. What the Lord wants is a real sincere invitation something like this: “Almighty God, I’ve tried to think of myself less and others more; I’ve made repeated attempts to be a sharing saint, really caring for others; but I’ve failed miserably. Take control of my life completely, Lord Jesus and transform my self-concern. Share Your love through my words, actions, and involvements. Lord God, “You are the only hope of glory.” To quote a celebrated Christian author, “To become Christlike is the only thing in the whole world worth caring for, the thing before which every ambition of mankind is folly and lower achievements vain” Says Henry Drummond. So, say I! I know that the inadvertent result will be the gift of Christlikeness. Amen Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully, Bishop Dr. Wm. LaRue Dillard Parish Under-shepherd
