T
he first celebration of Father’s Day is thought to have been in July 1908, in Fairmont, West Virginia. Grace Golden Clayton suggested the special observance to her pastor after a deadly explosion in a nearby town killed 361 men. Soon after, Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, wanted to show her gratitude to her father, who’d cared for the family after his wife died. Dodd asked her pastor to choose a June Sunday to honor all fathers, and he selected June 19, 1910.

Christian History of Observing the Lord’s Supper
Brothers and Sisters,
E
xpanding your knowledge of the Ordinance of the “Lord’s Supper” will help you understand the importance of its faithful observance.
The Lord’s Supper (Greek-Kuriakon Deipnon, I Corinthians 11:20) is the great, central act of Christian worship described in verses 23-26, having been instituted on Thursday night, the week of Jesus’ betrayal. It was a continuation or substitute for the Jewish Passover Feast (Matthew 26:19). AG’APE (Greek-agapos, meaning to love). The Christian Church perpetuated the commemoration of the death of Jesus by certain symbols at meals-a custom most beautiful and most beneficial; it was a supporter of love, a solace of poverty, a moderator of wealth, and a discipline of humility. Everyone was required to sing something in praise of God, either from the Scriptures or from his own thoughts. What this meant was if anyone had indulged in excess, he was detected. The Bible mentions this custom of Christians and says they eat common food (not such as was used for idol worship). Abuse is spoken of in I Corinthians 11:21, and perhaps to avoid such abuse. The Eucharist was celebrated apart from any meal starting around the year 150 A. D. The unleavened bread, broken, was a memorial of His broken body; and the fruit of the vine, His blood shed (Matthew 13:38-39). The elements used are symbolic of His body and blood. The new rule given by God through Paul separated the idea of a full meal from the celebration of the “Lord’s Supper,” or Eucharist; and instead of daily, it was to be only on the Lord’s Day (Acts 20:7), which is Sunday. We are told: “Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed” (Acts 20:11). Reverently and joyfully, we purposely assemble out of love for Him who purchased our eternal salvation and requested His own to join Him in this observance honoring Jesus, the Christ. Amen. Joyfully serving you reminds me of my under-shepherding responsibility (Jeremiah 3:15).
Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully, Bishop Dr. Wm. LaRue Dillard Parish Under-shepherd

ur discussion today continues regarding Alcoholics Anonymous 's12 Step treatment program. Steps 4, 5, & 6 is a process which involve completing an honest assessment of one's problematic addictive behaviors and the harm these behaviors have caused to others. This process also involves asking God to remove the character defects that have caused the problems.
Alcoholics Anonymous Steps 4, 5, & 6 4. MADE A SEARCHING AND FEARLESS MORAL INVENTORY OF OURSELVES But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). Ephesians 2: 4, 5 5. ADMITTED TO GOD, TO OURSELVES, AND TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING THE EXACT NATURE OF OUR WRONGS. And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. Acts 19: 18 6. WERE ENTIRELY READY TO HAVE GOD REMOVE ALL THESE DEFECTS OF CHARACTER There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4: 18 The ability and willingness for an individual to be truly honest with themselves is not only important , but essential for a successful resolution of a dependency problem. It is necessary to look at one's past including their childhood to determine the roots of their dependency issues. All steps are important. Step 3 is when an individual surrenders their will and turn their lives over to GOD .Without this surrender, this phase will in all probability fail. Can You Feel the Heat?
A
s summer months approach, a condition known as heat exhaustion will be on the rise. Heat exhaustion is caused by prolonged exposure or physical exertion in high temperatures. Heat exhaustion occurs when the body temperature rises to 104 F or higher.
The body's ability to regulate its temperature can be affected by several factors: age, medications or being over-weight. The Mayo Clinic describes the condition’s symptoms, which may include heavy sweating and a rapid pulse, as a result of the body overheating. One may also experience dizziness, fainting feelings, muscle cramps, nausea, fatigue and thirst. If symptoms are untreated, heat exhaustion can lead to heatstroke, a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body temperature reaches 104 F (40 C) or higher. Immediate medical attention is necessary to avoid further damage to the body. Heat exhaustion is a preventable condition. Below are a few steps to take to prevent heat exhaustion during hot weather. Protect against sunburn, apply sun screen Wear loose-fitting/light weight clothes Pay attention to medication labels that suggest “avoid sun exposure.” Drink plenty of fluids, keep in mind any restriction advised by a health provider. Do not leave kids, seniors, or animals in a parked car. If any of these symptoms are experienced Move to a cooler location/find a shaded area if possible Stop all activity and rest Drink cool water If symptoms worsen or persist for more than an hour, call a health care provider or seek medical attention. Should medical attention be required, don’t be alarmed if the health care provider wants to perform a few tests, including: to confirm the diagnosis a blood test to check electrolytes such as sodium and potassium levels a urine test and kidney function, which can be affected by this condition fluids may be given through an IV for hydration if needed imaging or x-ray to check internal organs for damage may also be perform 3 John 2: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your souls prosper.” Have a great summer and stay cool and stay healthy! he lyrics from “Love Is Action” describe where Tauren Wells is as a recording artist embarking on a solo career. “I have more awareness of who I am, what I want to say and where I want to go,” he says. “I can’t say that I had that when I was younger.” Back home, Tauren and his wife, Lorna, have been quietly busy building a life around ministry and music. In addition to serving on staff at her father’s church in Houston (Royalwood), the two have launched a private music academy called Prisma Worship Arts School, which has expanded to two locations with 20 “Dream Coaches” and 100 students – in just two years. Throw a toddler, Kanaan, and newborn, Lawson, into the mix and their family surely has their hands full, but Tauren feels compelled to do more. His wife champions the idea: “We said this from the beginning: This is a family calling.” His message? “I feel called to call greatness out of people,” he says. “If people have spoken a low expectation of someone’s life, I want to be the voice that raises the ceiling, makes them feel like they can do something great.”

A Celebration that Every Black American Should Celebrate
T
he American Civil War ended in 1865 when President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation which freed enslaved people in the Southern states. But it took the end of the war to turn that document into law. The end of slavery in America is still celebrated today, in the form of a celebration called “Juneteenth!” A celebration that all Black Americans should celebrate in some shape, form, or fashion, because God navigated the circumstances and events for the signing of this historical document that freed 3.5 millions African Americans from the grips of slavery. Amen!!!

O
h My Goodness; there’s so much to be thankful for; and yet, so much to make you shake your head and look to the hills where our help comes from!!!
II Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal towards Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have war.” We are in a state of emergency and God is seeking His remnant just like in the days of Lot and Noah. God was seeking a remnant to save not only the cities Sodom and Gomorrah, but all of mankind; and there was only one family who was righteous in His eyes both times. I am praying that the Lord will fine more of us who will stand and defend the FAITH in these last days. It seems as thou the book of Revelations is about to actually be revealed; but that’s God’s business. Ours is to tell as many people as possible that Jesus died for our sins, and all we/they have to do is ask Him to come into our hearts and save now; and He will! I love the first part of the above scripture, but the last part seems to be where our political leaders are today. But there is still hope! Philippines 1:6 states, “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” God is not done with us yet! In Christ,

Birthday Stories
Mary Price
Pentecost, the Church's Birthday Pentecost was originally a Jewish harvest festival when the first fruits of crops were given as offerings to God. On the first Pentecost after Jesus’ resurrection, the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus’ followers. They were filled with power and love, thus empowering them to witness to God’s actions in Christ to all who were nearby. Some 3,000 people responded to their claims that Christ was Lord and Savior of mankind. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus’ first followers on the day of Pentecost is often called the Church’s birthday. You can read the entire story in Acts 2.

The other responds, “Nothing much. A new baby was born over at Tom Lincoln’s place, but nothing much ever happens around here.” I’m sure there were folks who said the same thing in Bethlehem that night. I can picture them, can’t you? Standing on the corner, just outside the inn. “Anything new happen around here?” “Naw, just a baby born down in the stable. Nothing much ever happens around here.” —James A. Harnish
