Bishop’s Epistle

March 12, 2017

ARE YOU A COMMITTED CHRISTIAN INDEED? Sons and Daughters of Faith, Grace to you! My love epistle is designed to challenge your thinking about Christian commitment in the Lord’s work. The word “keep” in Greek means “guard.” Thus, committed is an ancient banking term implying a deposit. Literally that our deposit of ourselves and our needs are secure in the bank of heaven. When saints commit themselves to Christ, our eternal status is set. Our present and future are in His hands. Commitment is an act of the will. It is taking our eternal free will and using it to solidify thought and emotion. An unreserved commitment is staking our lives on Christ Jesus. When He says “Follow Me!”, we must decide once and for all and then moment by moment in all our new challenges that each day brings. The Lord stands by to help with each task or problem we face.

We renew that basic commitment in each new possibility that every new day or situation presents. There is no limit to the resources of the Lord if we will open the channel by committing today to Him. I want you to say to the Lord that you dare not go any further in this day without renewing your initial commitment to Christ with a special commitment of all you will face today and the days to come. You know that there is no limit to the resources of the Lord if you will open the channel of your heart by holy commitment to Him. Start by involving yourself in ministry and commit some time to help build that ministry for the glory of God despite hard challenges and situations. Tell the Lord Christ that He can depend on you in service for His kingdom. Then make it known to the parishioners so that together we can pray for you to hold firm to your decision.
