Library Help
Written by: Nicole Villanueva Key Club Member Individual Project Last week was my first time volunteering in a library. On the first day, I was really excited about what I was going to do and whom I was going to meet. They treated me nicely when I came there. The first thing that I was assigned to do is to arrange the books on the cart in alphabetical order. One of the staff taught me how to classify books in order. During that time I can say that I'm enjoying myself on what I'm doing. After that, they looked for things that I can do. They made me clean the toys that the kids had been playing with. The next was putting the holiday books on the bookshelf. While putting them, I can't help not to look at it and read it. And for the fifteen minutes left of my time, Ms. Elizabeth (coordinator) made me straighten the books. That was only for the first day. The next day was a lot of work. I started my day putting the books in the bookshelf and I have to tip toe when the book is on the top shelf. Then Ms. Elizabeth made me make sure that the children’s books were all in order. I think that one made me spend a lot of time. After that were the DVDs which were easy to put away. It was really easy to put DVDs away because there is letters on the side cover. It was only for two days but it was fun being in the library and working with the staffs.

DCM
July 15th
Written by: Elisa Loden, Secretary
We had the Joint July DCM at Desert Breeze Park on July 15, 2014. It was a great pleasure being able to attend this meeting. Not only did we get to see key clubbers from our district, we also saw key clubbers from the other districts. I was able to meet people from District 28 North and also District 28 West. Also, I was able to meet many individuals who are as determined toward Key Club as I am. During the DCM, we listened to all the President's Report from all the schools and we were able to hear all the different community service projects that were being done. Following the President's report, was the award for Club of the Month and also Member of the Month. I am happy to say that we were able to receive Club of the Month for the month of June. Also our very own President, Noemi Hernandez, was able to receive Member of the Month. Congratulations! Toward the ending of the DCM, all the districts came together to take a group picture. Finally, when the DCM came to end, Key Clubbers were taking many pictures and were also purchasing Key Club Shirts and Lanyards from our districts Lieutenant Governors. The DCM was very informational and it gave us all a chance to bond with Key Clubbers from other schools. Hopefully, later in the year, we are able to attend another joint DCM, but with more members from our club. //4//
Reminders
All current members must have at least 10 hours of service if they wish to attend RTC next year. NO EXCEPTIONS!! This is to ensure that all members who attend RTC are current, active members who deserve it!
Any individual projects you do MUST be approved by both a board member and by Mrs. Forrester. If Forrester is not contacted for approval, your service will not be counted as hours.
Any articles/visuals you wish to submit should now be submitted directly to the bulletin editor’s email! You are no longer able to turn them in via the website.
RTC money is due on September 11th! The fee is $25 and you must have 10 spring/summer hours is you wish to attend. There will be NO refunds! Note: The price may go down, but it will not go up.
//5//
Don’t just rely on group events! However, if you wish to do an event on your own, please make sure that you have spoken to a board member and have gotten it approved. Babysitting will no longer count for individual hours.
If you have any ideas for community service, be sure to have it ready once the school year starts! Remember, this is a chance to do something you want to do as a group! No need to be shy, we’re here for you and what you want to do!
Remember to have T-shirts and sweatshirts designs ready by the beginning of the school year! We will most likely be voting on our favorites, so now’s your chance to have your design on our next shirt! However, remember that the T-shirt design must correspond with the theme for RTC. This year’s theme is: Throwback to the 90’s! Designs for the sweatshirt do not have to follow this same theme, but should reflect on our school in general.
Please see a board member, or our advisors if you have any questions!
