Sem dúvida, Dorian Gray Caldas, 83, é uma das maiores referências nas artes plásticas, na poesia e escrita ensaística do Estado há mais de cinco décadas. Ele, juntamente com grandes nomes como Newton Navarro e Ivon Rodrigues, foi um dos responsáveis por inserir Natal na vanguarda artística, quando expôs pela primeira vez obras que bebiam da fonte do modernismo brasileiro, no final dos anos 1940. Também um grande tapecista, Dorian é responsável por criar

Dorian Gray Caldas, 83, is undoubtedly one of the major references in art, poetry and essay writing of the State for over five decades. He, along with great artists like Newton Navarro and Ivon Rodriguez, was one of the accounted artists that placed Natal in the artistic vanguard, when he first presented works whose inspiration came from the Brazilian modernism, in the late 1940s. Also a large art embroider, Dorian is responsible for creating a singular style in the art of

Member of the Academia Norte-Riograndense de Letras (State Academy of Arts and Letters, on a free translation) plus national and international award-winner for his work in visual arts, it is more than fair that he is honored on account of his legitimate contribution to Natal, Brazil and world art. Thus, throughout the month of June, Secultrn/FJA is encouraging public and private institutions, such as universities (UFRN, UNP), IFRN, FIERN, Sistema S, State Government and others, to honor him and use the hashtag #temdorian on social networks, promoting the works of this brilliant painter. O Governo do Estado fará as honras da casa, recepcionando todas as delegações, chefes de Estado e autoridades internacionais durante o mês de junho no Palácio Potengi – Pinacoteca do Estado. Todos serão saudados com Guarda de Honra, bandas de música, além da rica programação que é reservada naquela lugar aos olhos dos apreciadores de arte, seja no acervo permanente, seja nas diversas exposições que farão parte das atividades daquela casa das artes durante junho.

Fortaleza dos Reis Magos - Praia do Forte

Fortaleza dos Reis Magos – Marco inicial da criação da cidade é o mais importante patrimônio arquitetônico e histórico de Natal. A Fortaleza leva esse nome porque foi construída para defender a Capitania de possíveis ataques de outros países que queriam colonizar o Brasil. Visitação: de sexta a terça, das 08h às 16h; quarta, das 08h às 12h e quinta, das 12h às 16h. A Fortaleza está em obras, com escavações arqueológicas.

Reis Magos Fortress - Starting point of the creation of the city, this is the most important architectural and historical heritage of Natal. The fortress takes its name because it was built to defend the Captaincy from possible attacks from other countries which wanted to colonize Brazil. Visitation: Friday through Tuesday from 08h to 16h; Wednesday, from 08h to 12h and Thursday from 12h to 16h.

Palácio Potengi - Pinacoteca do Estado - Rei e Rainha do Espontão

Inaugurado em 1873 e transformado em sede do governo estadual em 1902 pelo governador Alberto Maranhão, o Palácio Potengi é a maior expressão de arquitetura neoclássica em Natal. O Palácio foi o centro da vida política do Rio Grande do Norte até 1995. A partir dessa data passou a ser um importante centro cultural com exposições permanentes da pinacoteca potiguar.

Opened in 1873 and transformed into the state capitol in 1902 by Governor Alberto Maranhão, Potengi Palace is the greatest expression of neoclassical architecture in Natal. The Palace was the center of political life in Rio Grande does Norte until 1995. Later it became an important cultural center with permanent exhibition of Natal art gallery.

O artista plástico Vatenor de Oliveira celebra seus 40 anos de arte na exposição Cajus para Todos, na Pinacoteca do Estado, de 6 de junho, até o dia 5 de julho. Eternizado pelos seus cajus, o natalense começou a pintar em 1974 sem muita expectativa e logo se descobriu autodidata. Vatenor carrega em sua bagagem a experiência e o prazer de ter participado de exposições nos maiores centros de artes plásticas do mundo, dentre as quais três foram individuais. Fez parte de coletivas em Nova York no período de 1986 a 1988, onde conviveu com os artistas Mel Eduard, Allen Ginsberg dentre outros. E em Paris no final de 1988, quando expôs na Galeria Debret. Morando em sua cidade Natal desde 1996, Vatenor faz das

O artista plástico Fabio Massimo Caruso, dentro do projeto Itália na Copa, participa de uma residência artística na Pinacoteca do Estado. Esse trabalho de Caruso recebeu o nome de “Percurso”. Na residência artística, o pintor realiza obras, nos dias que antecedem os jogos. A primeira exibição das obras será na Casa Azurri, uma espécie de sede itinerante da Seleção Italiana que será montada em Natal.

O dramaturgo Racine Santos ganha uma homenagem feita por alunos de Licenciatura em Teatro do Deart/UFRN, numa curta temporada de apresentações no Teatro de Cultura Popular, entre os dias 3 a 6 de junho, sempre a partir das 19h, com entrada simbólica ao preço de R$ 5. O projeto intitulado À Luz das Intimidades – Mostra de Cenas, vai levar ao palco várias esquetes, algumas retiradas de peças escritas por Racine. Segundo divulgação, o projeto pretende levar cenas ao palco que transpõem a essência do ser humano, seus pensamentos, sonhos, medos, desejos e devaneios. A Mostra é uma realização dos alunos matriculados na disciplina de Encenação I, o evento visa mostrar a comunidade os trabalhos produzidos na academia.

A profissional iniciou o ensaio em 2009 e selecionou 16 imagens com registros da paisagem e do cotidiano seridoense, no qual exalta o sentimento de ser nordestino sob a ótica de um viajante. Atenção para as texturas e luzes que são ressaltadas através das diversas formas e elementos tradicionais do sertanejo.

Construída para sede dos serviços administrativos e fazendários da Coroa, o Real Erário, no fim do século XVIII, O prédio entrou para a história política do Rio Grande do Norte quando virou sede do governo republicano em 1817. Atualmente o sobrado abriga o Memorial Câmara Cascudo.

O artista plástico João Natal, bebe da fonte da obra “História dos nossos gestos”, do mestre Luís Câmara Cascudo, e também na observação no comportamento dos torcedores de futebol e seu gestual mais expressivo para compor a exposição Gestos e Jogos, com abertura para o dia 10 de junho, no Memorial Câmara Cascudo, a partir das 9h. Serão expostas 26 obras em técnicas como desenhos, pinturas e esculturas que retratam gestos como a “figa”, “isola”, “torcer a boca”, “murro no ar” e o “dar bananas”, entre tantos outros. A visitação poderá ser feita, sempre de terça a domingo, até o dia 15 de julho.

Dos índios da tribo Potiguara – que habitavam o litoral desse Estado – no período da colonização portuguesa, da invasão holandesa, até o desenvolvimento atual com grandes monumentos e obras como é o caso do Estádio Arena das Dunas, do Aeroporto Internacional de São Gonçalo do Amarante e a energia eólica, são os elementos que contam a história da capital do Rio Grande do Norte e que está em exposição aberta ao público, a partir do dia 17 de junho, no Memorial Câmara Cascudo, no Centro da Cidade. A mostra que conta a história de Natal se inspira na obra História da Cidade do Natal, de um dos mais importantes folcloristas, pesquisadores e escritores do Brasil, o mestre Luís da Câmara Cascudo. Visitação em horário comercial de terça a domingo.

SAINT ANTHONY CHURCH / THE ROOSTER CHURCH

A Igreja de Santo Antônio, ou Igreja do Galo como é mais conhecida devido ao galo de bronze no alto da torre, foi o terceiro templo católico construído em Natal entre 1766 e 1799. No ano de 1836 serviu de quartel da Companhia de Polícia. E em 1938 foi instalado o Convento Santo Antônio pelos Capuchinhos. Anexo à Igreja do Galo, funciona o Museu de Arte Sacra.

A dança e os movimentos corporais fazem parte da vida de todos os brasileiros, povo alegre e que gosta de usar seu corpo para expressar suas emoções. Mas, a farra só ocorrerá antes e depois dos jogos, que serão nos dias 13 (México e Camarões, às 13h); 16 (Gana e Estados Unidos, às 19h); 19 (Japão e Grécia, às 19h) e no dia 24 (Itália e Uruguai, às 13h).

ART AND CRAFTSMANSHIP ON THE SQUARE

A Secretaria de Estado do Trabalho, da Habitação e da Assistência Social (Sethas), através do Programa de Artesanato (Proart) realiza mais uma vez a Feira de Arte e Artesanato na Praça 7 de Setembro, Centro, nos dias 5 e 6; depois, 12 e 13; 19 e 20; 26 e 27 durante o mês de junho. Essa iniciativa do Governo do Estado proporciona a artistas e artesãos espaços para que eles possam mostrar suas produções diretamente ao consumidor. Mais de 60 profissionais artesãos e artistas participarão. Os visitantes da Feira poderão conhecer e comprar peças em cerâmicas, madeiras e outros materiais, mas uma das maiores atrações são as famosas rendas feitas em bilros, ou em conhecidas técnicas como irlandesas, renascença e palha. Serão convidadas importantes e tradicionais rendeiras do Estado, para fazer o trabalho ao vivo, como é o caso de Dona Cícera, da comunidade de Alcaçuz, em Nísia Floresta. A diversidade de peças artesanais também é acompanhada pelos preços que variam de R$ 15 até as cifras mais elevadas de R$ 3 mil a 4 mil.

The State Secretariat for Labor, Housing and Social Care (Sethas), through Program Crafts (Proart) performs again the “Art and Craft Fair” on the Square September 7th , downtown, on days 5 and 6; then, on the 12th and 13th, 19th and 20th and on the 26th and 27th June. This initiative of the State Government provides opportunities for artists and artisans so they can show their productions directly to consumers. According to the general coordinator of Proart, Elaine Morgado, more than 60 professional artisans and artists will be part in the event. Visitors to the Fair can see and buy pieces in ceramic, wood and other materials, but one of the biggest attractions are the famous bobbin lace, or techniques known as Irish, Renaissance and straw. Important and traditional lace makers of the state will be invited to do the work live, as is the case of Dona Cícera, from Nísia Floresta. The diversity of handicrafts is also accompanied by prices ranging from R$15 to R$ 4,000.

Nesse mês de junho, o carro-chefe é o Festival de Quadrilhas Juninas Quatrocentão, uma festa colorida, vibrante e com as mais autênticas tradições do Nordeste. O Mercado Municipal do Artesanato está localizado em Santo Antônio do Potengi, um espaço que abriga obras autênticas do artesanato considerado o mais diversificado do Rio Grande do Norte, tendo grande concentração de tipologias artesanais de produções primarias como a cerâmica, cipó, palha da carnaúba, sendo estes os grandes responsáveis pelo diferencial do artesanato do município. As peças são produzidas por dezenas de pessoas, são famílias tradicionais, cujas habilidades passam de pais para filhos. O Mercado Municipal do Artesanato foi construído em março de 1990, com o objetivo de apoiar a comercialização dos produtos artesanais do município. Em 2014,
