Military Training Provides Foundation for Excellent Client Service

Whether in service to his country or his client, Sgt. E-5 Joseph Parsons stands ready to serve.

Joseph Parsons is a highly trained and distinguished U.S. Army Veteran, with 16 years on active duty and two more as part of the National Guard. His military service included two tours each in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as one in Kosovo. He continues to serve in the National Guard, hoping to receive another deployment, but he’s quick to say how much he enjoys his job as a Securitas Officer at the University of New Mexico’s Science & Technology Park (STP@UNM).

Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness Described as a helpful and conscientious officer who takes a vested interest in protecting people and property, Officer Parsons balances his on-going commitment to his country with protecting his client’s interests. “He takes personal ownership of his duties while providing excellent customer service to our client and its tenants. I appreciate his attention to detail and dedication to our company’s core values,” said Rocky Mountain Area Branch Manager David Peach.

Officer Parsons was recommended for the post at STP@UNM because it required a top performer with superior communications skills. The facility sits on more than 80 acres and sees more 2,000 employees and visitors pass through its gates daily. It is also home to Sandia National Laboratories, the Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory, private sector research and development, and hightechnology University research. The nature of the work at the client site was a perfect

match for Officer Parsons, who applies the same focus and precision which distinguished him during his military service to his work on campus. According to his supervisor, Officer Parsons takes his job seriously, using Vision 2.0 to promptly report unauthorized activity, safety concerns and near miss items (e.g, broken sprinklers, fallen tree limbs, building issues or vagrants) to management as well as his fellow officers. Parsons credits the military with making him an exemplary Security Officer, citing his specialized training, posts in military law enforcement, and exposure to a wide variety of situations as laying the groundwork for his civilian career. “My job allows me to be extremely proactive and also work independently. I like to actively patrol the area to continuously ensure the safety and welfare

of the Park and those who occupy it,” he says of his post at STP@UNM. The client is also quick to endorse Officer Parsons. According to STP@UNM Real Estate Associate Leah Murray, “His thorough attention to detail and ability to assess and

react appropriately to the various situations that arise, from aggressive vagrants to facility floods, directly relate to his service and skills developed while in the U.S. Army.” She also points out the ways in which he exceeds the expectations of his post, explaining how, soon after arriving, he “proactively created various aids for daily use by onsite officers which supplemented the site Post Orders.” Whether he’s wearing his military uniform or his Securitas Security Officer’s uniform, Joseph Parsons demonstrates leadership and dedication to his work. He’s quick to mentor others and respectful in his collaboration with colleagues. He is a shining example of why Securitas is The Leader in Protective Services.
