Cust om Cont rol s What is Control Trim? Control trim is a new, effective way of interfacing electric release with mechanical locking. It’s ideal to retrofit to existing doors. Control trim is key activated and electrically-released lever handle which can be released by any access control system or remote release. Internal switches, activated by lever movement can send request-toexit signals and release electromagnetic locks invisibly.

What are the benefits? Greater code compliance: fail-safe exiting meets exit codes No special knowledge exiting: separate request-to-exit pushbuttons and P-I-Rs are not needed. Durable electric release: solenoid within trim cannot be damaged and resists wear & tear Easy installation: eliminates chopping frames for electric strikes. Fewer devices needed. Low current draw eliminates expensive power supplies.

What are the outstanding features? 24vDC release for easy access control integration (optional 24vAC release) Mechanical key override with standard size mortise cylinders (Key Usage Signal Switch available) LevereX™ vandal-resistant slipclutch lever handle. Lever breaks away and is reset without damage. Lever remains rigid until unlocked. Not free-wheeling. User knows if door is locked or unlocked. Switch and monitoring choices include latch position switch in lock body and key usage signal.

What types of locks and exit devices are available with control trim? Electra™ Series Cylindrical Latchsets Electra™ Series Mortise Locks Lexi™ Series Exit Device Trim (works with most mfrs. exit devices) Acced™ Series Exit Devices (includes easy-to-install pass-through wiring)

How do I choose functions? Securitech Control Trim use a common model number scheme throughout all the different series. A “D21” designation (electric release and request-to-exit signal) would be the same function in all the different series. Please see the complete function list. You can choose from electric release, request-to-exit signal, key-usage switch, key on/off switch and latch position switches options to meet each door’s specific needs.

What else do I need to know before quoting or ordering? For quoting, you’ll need to know what series, function and finish. If an exit device is being used, you’ll need to know width (and height for vertical rod devices). You’ll want to resolve how you will transfer power to the door and check to see if a power supply will be needed. When ordering, you'll also need to add the door swing and any other special information.

What is Signal Trim? There are applications where there might not be an exterior trim or the trim will not be locked. You will want a signal if someone is exiting from the inside. The inside lever contains a switch(es) and the exterior lever, if used, is free-moving for a passage function (no cylinder or electric release). This application replaces request-to-exit buttons and P-I-Rs and provides “No special knowledge” exiting. Control Trim Series Info

Building a model number follows the same process across all the Control Trim Series. The following pages will explain all the different series, features and choices. Most designations are common to all series, making specifying and ordering a uniform process. Step 4 involves extra designations for LEXI & ACCED models. LEXI models require information regarding the specific exit device the trim will be matching. ACCED models require door width, (height & type for vertical rod models) and wire transfer info. Step 5 is only used when electromagnetic locks are to be controlled by the trim. Omit on nonmaglock models. Step 6 is only used when there are special options to be included, otherwise it is omitted.

The heart of the Control Trim models are the function groups. These provide simple electric release (D11) and can also meet sophisticated access control requirements (e.g. D14). The different groups meet almost every function and application need. DC Release is 24vDC. 24vDC power is also required for Re-Entry models.

DC solenoids are most common for use with access control systems and have a very low (24ma) current draw, which eliminates the need for expensive power supplies. Most access control systems with a 24vDC output can power the Control Trim. AC solenoid models (24vAC,30va) begin with “A” and are available for use with intercoms and other systems where a “buzzing” sound is desired when the trim is released. Control Trim Functions

Cust om Cont r ol s MODEL NUMBER BUILDI NG INFORMATION Each series contains a model building guide. If the function or features you need are not listed, please contact Securitech to create a special model for you. DoubleCylinder models (key or access control signal required to exit) are available.

GENERA L CONTRO L TRIM INFORMA TION Standard Keyed Release Rotating the key in the cylinder momentarily unlocks the exterior lever handle, like a storeroom function. Pulling the lever down retracts the latch and allows entry. Standard Electric Release Same momentary function as keyed release. Lever re-locks when sending power ends, creating Fail-Secure exterior trim. Fail-Safe Exiting - Code Compliance Interior lever or panic bar can be depressed for free-exiting at all times. Timed Release Continuous power (via a timer) may be sent to the exterior trim to allow free-entry trough a door for extended periods (such as general office entry doors). During off-hours, the access control system may be used to provide momentary release to gain entry. Re-Entry (Stairtower Application) To meet code requirements, Re-Entry models (“R” designation in Function Group) are available where Class E systems can remove power from the exterior trim in the event of an emergency. Loss of power will convert exterior to Fail-Safe, providing fail-safe operation on both sides of the door with positive latching. Re-Entry trim may also be released momentarily by access control. DC & AC Solenoids 24vDC solenoids have a low (24ma) current draw and provide silent operation. 24vAC solenoids provide a “buzzing” sound when energized and require 24vAC30va transformers within the power supply. Custom Models Securitech can create custom models to meet special locking needs. Cylinders Mortise cylinders (1-1/8" long) are required (not furnished by Securitech.)

All electric locking installations are subject to code compliance and approval by the local authority having jurisdiction. LEXI™ Exit Device Electric Release Trim Selecting The Right Mounting Plate

Selecting a mounting plate to work with LEXI is easy! 1) Identify the exit device manufacturer, model and style. (Email us a picture if you need help!) 2) Identify the type of operator used to unlock the exit device. Type A: The most common type. Uses a “Crosshair” which accepts the tailpiece of a rim cylinder. Type B: If it is a mortise device, check to see if the lock body will accept a spindle. Type C: Some devices require a lifter finger. If the exit device manufacturer offers an alternative backplate or modification kit for the device to convert to a “Crosshair”, we recommend this conversion instead of the lifter. Securitech will create custom operators. Type “D” is specific for Corbin concealed vertical rod devices. Contact the factory with special requests. Important note: Some exit devices require unusually large degrees of rotation. These are typically found on some concealed vertical rod devices on aluminum doors. Securitech recommends you contact us when you run across these doors. An easy way to tell a large degree of rotation: Insert the key, rotate fully to retract the latches. When ordered separately, a mounting plate may be combined with a LEXI trim using the same operator. Add the designation “EDTMP-___” to order. Servicemen may want to order extra mounting plates to match different exit devices they come across in the field.

Control trim requires bringing power from the frame to the door. Securitech offers many different methods to meet new construction and retrofit applications. YAMAKA

Module with spring loaded tips

An innovative method for hollow metal or aluminum doors. The module mounts in the top of the door, with the spring loaded tips protruding above the door. As the door closes, the tips make contact with the transfer plate which is mounted to the frame. Tested for over 1,000,000 cycles.

An inexpensive methods of transferring up to 8 wires where aesthetics and vandalism are not great concerns. Features stainless steel armored cable with 14" loop. For use on hollow metal or aluminum doors.

Panic Bar Retrofit Cords Cable provided to reach across door, create loop and mount on frame

An armored cable to be installed below the panic bar when adding a LEXI trim to an existing bar. Package includes wire, black mounting clips for under bar and steel clips for mounting to frame.

Electrified Mini-Hinges Identifying geared hinges Geared hinge manufacturers do not share common sizes. Please identify the mfr. and model when ordering.

Geared continuous hinges are used on high-traffic doors. Geared mini-hinges may be added to existing doors when electrified trim is used. The entire hinge need not be replaced. The top 1-1/2" are removed and the mini-hinge installed in itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s place. Mini-hinges are much friendlier to installers than full-length electrified hinges. A serviceman can check connections without removing the entire door when a mini-hinge is used.

Electrified Hinges Measuring electrified hinges An electrified hinge must match the existing hinges. Determine the height (a). a Determine the width by measuring across the two b leafs (b) including the knuckle.

The cleanest method of transferring wires from the frame. Recommended for new construction or retrofit into frames without concrete. Available in 4, 6,8 or 10 wire models. See price list for available sizes. Optional door position switch provides valuable information to access control system.

TransX TransX transfers multiple wires from the door to the frame in a concealed, protected manner. Trim wires travel through the door into the TRANSX door module (the lower box). The wire passes through into the frame module to the bottom side of the terminal strip. Access control technicians or electricians bring their low voltage wires through conduit into the TransX frame module and connect to the upper side of the terminal strip.

This product is handed: Order by looking at the hinge location on the pull side of the door.
