Restrict the Flow of Employee Traffic to/from Sallyport and Mantrap Barriers

REACT locks both sides of the door for the highest level of protection to life and property. REACT mechanically latches door with ¾" bolt. Levers are electrically released by solenoid. Trim may also be wired for direct control of standard electromagnetic lock. Exterior & Interior trims function independently of each other and may operate as either Fail-Secure or Fail-Safe.

May Be Configured To Meet Life Safety Codes. Switch options available for monitoring Latch Position, Request-To-Exit and Key Usage. Life & Property Issues: Vandalism Theft Physical Threat & Detention Shared Common Space

REACT OPERATING MODES: Fail-Safe vs Fail-Secure A Fail-Safe (FS) or ReEntry (RE) trim must be electrically energized in order to lock. In the event of a power failure, the trim (being safe) unlocks. The door remains latched to preserve the fire rating.

Nomenclature for Identifying door & side.

In contrast, a Fail-Secure (FSE) trim must be electrically energized in order to unlock. In the event of a power failure, the trim (being secure) remains locked.

In the example above, the function group for the exterior trim is “D” and the interior trim is “R”.

OPERATING VOLTAGE: AC vs DC Electrically released control trim is available with either a 24vAC or a 24vDC solenoid. An AC solenoid is for intermittent use only, and emits an audible “buzzing” sound which is often desirable to indicate that the trim has been unlocked. However, this is strictly for fail-secure applications. The DC solenoid may be used for either intermittent or continuous duty applications. Since it operates more quietly, it is often furnished with an audible or visual signal to alert the user that the trim is unlocked. While it may be used for fail-secure devices, it is required for fail-safe applications.

Design Note: This example is intended to provide a general understanding of the components required for a typical two-door interlock and should not limit the use of alternative or additional items which may be required for a specific application.

Special Operation Note: When electrically controlled “fail-safe or re-entry” trim is tied to the building’s Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP), it will, in the event that power is lost during a fire emergency, allow unimpeded egress. In the example above, the doors remained latched and employees are free to egress the “Restricted Area” . However, still doors remain locked from the “Public Area”.
