Vision Launched in 2002, SEED Academy Boys is the first basketball student-athlete academy in Africa. Founded by Amadou Gallo Fall, the Academy uses basketball as a platform to engage youth in academic and leadership programs, and develop socially conscious scholars that will continue to drive Africa forward. Created with a vision to combat Senegal’s low school attendance rates and high unemployment (50% country-wide), the Academy has graduated more than 100 students who have either matriculated to university or secured a job upon leaving SEED (95% success rate). In 2013, SEED Academy expanded its reach and now serves up to 20 girls annually. This past year, 13 boys and 20 girls attended the Academy in Senegal, and 3 SEED boys were enrolled in U.S. high schools. All 5 of our high school seniors will be moving on to university, including 4 in the U.S.
All students receive scholarships and daily programming, including: Tuition to attend a local private school English language classes Elite basketball training Academic tutoring and grade monitoring College placement support (BAC, SAT/ACT, TOEFL) Study abroad opportunities in the U.S., Africa, Europe or Canada
