Computational Thinking will invite students to learn about an the four pillars of computational thinking: decomposition, algo abstraction, and pattern recognition. These cognitive skills are the foundation for future learning in computer science. Students will practice their new skills by joining Robot in an interactive storybook with fun, authentic cross-curricular activities.

Sequence: Lessons for each pillar by grade level should be completed in order. The first lesson in each pillar includes a video with Rainbow Bear and friends.

Vocabulary: Pause video to emphasize the main vocabulary word. Have students repeat the word and definition.

Expand: Consider elaborating on the video and experience with examples that are relevant to your students. Since computational thinking skills are ways of solving problems, think about problems your students are solving in the classroom.

Connect: The final lesson for each pillar by grade level is a “connect” lesson and is designed to be completed with partners or at home with families.
