2014 has been a banner year for the foodservice industry and growth is predicted to continue to rise in the years ahead. Restaurant-industry sales are projected to total $683.4 billion in 2014 and equal 4 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product. The restaurant industry’s share of the food dollar is presently 47%.

Consumers are dining out more than ever. Technology and menu trends have fired up a new excitement for restaurants and their customers. Diners are more aware of green practices, healthier foods, and fresh locally sourced foods. They are enticed by the creativity chefs are putting into their culinary masterpieces. Craving more of these exciting foodservice trends, nine out of ten diners surveyed by the National Restaurant Association, admit they enjoy going to restaurants today. The survey also tells us that two in five consumers say restaurants are an essential part of their lifestyle, and seven in ten consumers say their favorite restaurant foods provide flavors that can’t be duplicated at home. The skills and talents of chefs today are recognized and appreciated so much that they are quickly becoming the biggest stars on television. Chefs are stepping up to the plate and diners are interested. Quality food and good service will always win a customer. The voice of diners today tells us that technology trends, fresh local sourced ingredients, healthy menu options, and environmentally responsible operations are also a top consideration.
