The beauty of the MT method is that it is very up-to-date: the impact on the environment is practically non-existent. And when I talk about the environment, I mean not only the natural environment, but also the environment in which we live. We often have to do exploration in highly populated locations. Care for the environmental impact must also take into account the population. Exploration will continue, but we have to
think of ways to do it carefully and taking into account that today there is a very strong movement to protect the environment. As HL, I will present work from all over Latin America, focusing on the results, on the care with the acquisition and on the contribution of the method for the exploration of oil & gas, mineral and also on a new application that is in the assessment of the areas for the grounding of renewable ener-

Integrated Studies Project Federal University of Ouro Preto SEG Student Chapter - Brazil The “Integrated Studies is a project developed by the Society of Applied Geophysics (SGA) since 2018, which aims to promote the initial theoretical knowledge about geophysics and its applications with the members of the student chapter. For this, weekly presentations are made by the members of the entity. First, a new member of the Chapter is paired up with an existent and experienced member. After defining the teams, the themes are drawn. This semester will cover geophysical concepts, from geophysical methods and their applications. The presentations started on June 24 and are still taking place. The topics chosen include Potential Methods, Water Prospecting, Environmental Studies, Mineral Research, Urban Projects, Seismic Refraction and MASW, Euler Deconvolution and others.
The project assists the entity in fulfilling its objectives of disseminating and facilitating geophysical knowledge, helping to assimilate knowledge on the topics and promoting the training of members.

cates, we made available at the end of the streaming online forms to collect the names and e-mails. For the short courses we had a registration system before the classes started as we had a limited spots. The classes were delivered using the zoom platform with restricted access to participants. The short courses had such a high demand that they ran out of spots in few minutes. During all the event organization we counted with the collaboration of our friends and professor that saved their times to join us in this event. We also had the support of Halliburton and Oceannering, two big companies that are always supporting students’ activities. I’d like thank all of them for making our 5A1K a very special event.

As a chapter we had great ideas before COVID-19 came into our lives, which consisted of face-to-face activities. However, we have managed to redefine our planning; by changing field activities for virtual conferences, achieving a greater scope in our objectives, since we not only interact with members of our university community but also with students and professionals from all over the world. We have improved our internal communication, and created professional

As a team, we managed to achieve a new horizon, organizing remote activities, acquiring new knowledge with the help of professionals in different subjects, and we continue with our mission of promoting geophysics wherever we are. Not only the pandemic has helped us in the organization of the webinar; it has also helped us to get in touch with other chapters from different countries, to make ourselves known in Latin America and North America. With that idea in mind, we’ll continue to plan different talks, webinars and activities to continue to relate with other student chapters and make ourselves well known in the region.

Local Activities I INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL CONGRESS OF GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS - CIVGEO 2020 CIVGEO 2020 was an online event that delivered lectures between July 23 and 25 and mini-courses in the months of July and August. The goal was to provide a geo-scientific setting to highlight the importance of Geology and Geophysics in the search for solutions that favor the development of the society through the mining, energy and construction industries. In its first edition, CIVGEO sought to innovate by being the first to develop a Virtual Congress of Earth Sciences, demonstrating that the barriers of society impulse the training of our professionals and the strengthening of knowledge networks. Thus, this
event brought together leading professionals and researchers from our country (Peru), as well as the presence of international experts. CIGVEO 2020 was also a platform for the dissemination, promotion and discussion of scientific research linked to exploration, prospecting, strategies and updates in geology and geophysics, framed in an appropriate context in harmony with the best socioenvironmental practices. The event was supported by several SEG student chapters in Latin America who helped with the publicity and dissemination of the event. In return, they received free registration for members of the chapters and to be drawn. Some of them presented their activities in a American Student Chapters International Integration Summit related to CIVGEO.
