The countryside, the mountains and the skies from her town inspired the creation . of her artwork.

“Alicia paints grazing the canvas, as memories from her home town graze her. Her figures do not describe, recount through her painings. They surprise and excite us. (Jorge Abot)

Earth Subtlty drawn with the fire of the sunrise of a sensitive look. Song without lyrics and with a melody that scapes repeatedly from the heart. A thousand nights with their moons in the paths. An open track by the nostalgia and far away an inhabited small house that begs for a caress and an unexpected visit.

About me: Alicia paints grazing the canvas, as memories from her home town grazie her. Her look, from today, from yesterday?, is where she takes food from where she constructs her work. She looks for the silence that the paintings give for talking to us from within. Her figures do not describe, do not tell. Through her paintings she surprises and excites us. On september 2009, because of an art exposition in Madrid, Rafail Canogar, the great spanish artist, he made a revision on a catalog. He makes a reflection on the path that art took and how it looks tired and exhausted the language of the reading. In a sort of luck, he says: “I think it is high time we rescued the place of painting, to rescue the metaphysic dimension and the capacity of falling in love with it and vibrate again with the virtual space of it. Of the good painting.” “To go back some years -in fact, you never go back in a complete way- To resume the pure painting element of the pure painting, just the purityof the painting and its capacity of communicationg. An that’s it!” “But maybe it is not only about recovering the painting, but also rescuing the ethic, the trascendental, the sublime: maybe to reinvent the painting. Alicia is in the hard track, giving us her way of feeling, her poetry. Some time ago, I used to write about the Chilean artist Patricio Court, because of an exposition in Santiago: “To go back to the origin, to be more contemporary than ever, to be one and Everyone. “Because this is the path, where you are and everyone is, where the time is defeated.” “It is said: I am from here, and my desert is… where from?.. it is from every desert.” Jorge Abot

A need. To feel part of the nature. To go beyond the human limits. From the sky, everything is clearer. The horizon is the pretext, the limit between the tangible and the nothing. Hard blues that pretend to darken, end up lightening everything that I do not understand. To look up the sky for some seconds, to close the eyes and inhale, makes me free. This protects and transports me. That is my faith. I turno to the heights and the distance to see better; being able to find myself in those skyes that talk that much about God. Agustín Gonzalez “The wish of the horizon, the redention of peace, the redemption of the peace we look look for eternally. There, where the soul of the earth meets the sky as a legitimate consequence. There where the path narrows down and glances are lost.We can think that the technical qualities of the painting merges in the skies, synonyme of abundance of eternity that humans have because of the conjuction between the earth, water and air. “In those places, sometimes habitated and sometimes not, where it can only stay a simple footprint of the passage of the being. Alicia Ceballos’ artwork is where we can stop and admire the skill of a simple and agile pallette, full of freshness in a landscape without ties, just with freedom.” Analía Stellato

“Alicia Ceballos finds out in her painting the way of expresing her sensibility. Silently staying in her atelier, building an image that goes from the figure associated to the memory, to the open abstraction to the escence in the inside” She found a type of blue of her own, that started being assosiated in a symbolic way to her figure. The blues that Alicia proposes have the intensity of the changing hours of the day: with the strong light of midday, they expandtowards a yellow brightness, on the contrary, with a faint softness of dawn they subtly change to white and in the slow fall of the night they darken until they overshadow. In her landscapes there are vibrant strokes as well as sandblastings that frees multiples associations with nature. The little housing and it’s reflection, they have been structured far away from the formal rigourosity. Separating itself from reality and creating dreamy situations. The artwork ends up been wrapped in a strange poetry. Julio Sapollnik
