It's Showtime! Guadalupe County Youth Show currently underway, auction set for Saturday By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- Area youth are hoping that all of their hard work will pay off during this year's 79th Guadalupe County Youth Livestock and Homemakers Show. The show which began on Wednesday runs through Saturday at the Guadalupe County Fairgrounds. This year's show has just over 1,400 entries -- entries submitted from kids representing schools across the county. Found prepping her heifer, Roxy, at the fairground barns was Samuel Clemens Senior Kamryn Morrison. Morrison says she's worked hard all year long and is hoping for the best as she enters the poultry, heifer and steer competitions. "I like it. It gives us a lot of responsibility. It's really good. It's something I knew I wanted to do in the beginning. My family started off showing goats and rabbits and so I wanted to get into it," said Kamryn. Like most students, parents often play an important role in their projects. Morrison's father Carl says he's proud of his daughter's dedication and commitment to the program. He says while it is a lot of work, in the end, it's all worth it. "It takes time. You have to put in the time and effort if you want to achieve the goals but it pays off in the end though. It just gives her a better prospect because she wants to go to college for Ag and it just shows her (the difference) from the 9th grade to the 12th grade and it's just really going to help her out in the future," said Morrison.
