You’ll find Zach on the mound for the Bulldogs this spring looking to build upon a freshman season that saw the left hander named All-SCAC honorable mention. He picked up his first win of the 2023 season on Sunday against

Pacific (Ore.) University, striking out eight and allowing one run on five hits over four innings.

Off the field, Zach has been a committed and active member of TLU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) - attending meetings and participating in community service activities. Alongside his baseball teammates, Zach participated in TLU’s HOT DOGS Fall Day of Service in the Seguin community and in “Boo Bash” on campus this past Halloween in which he gave out candy to local kids Trick-orTreating on campus. He ended the calendar year as a volunteer ringing the bell for Salvation Army during the Christmas holiday.

Last year, Zach volunteered at the local animal shelter in Seguin - inspired by past service in his hometown of Richmond, Texas, that saw him volunteer with animals as well as hurricane/ storm recovery.

In high school, his team participated in a program with a special needs baseball league where they played baseball and spent time with the players, in addition to a mentor program his junior and senior year.

When asked about the mentor program Longshore stated, “That taught me how to lead by example. When you’re on the playground with a bunch of nine- and 10-year-olds, they just see you as the big kid and want to do what you do.”

Zach has quickly established himself on the mound for the Bulldogs as well as in the Seguin community and beyond.
