Texas Lutheran Falls to Pacific Lutheran, 9-3

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball dropped its final game of the 2023 Concordia Classic, falling to Pacific Lutheran, 9-3, on Sunday at Tornado Field in Austin, Texas.
The Bulldogs will look to end their three-game losing streak on Friday, Feb. 17, as they host the Comets of University of Texas-Dallas at 6 PM at Katt-Isbel Field. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
Blake Cappadona (Mont Belvieu/Barbers Hill), Holden Philippus (San Antonio/San Antonio Christian), and Aric Vasquez (San Antonio/ Brandeis) all drove in runs for the Bulldogs.
Pacific Lutheran got on the board first with two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Texas Lutheran cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth but the Lutes would immediately restore the lead with a run of their own taking a 3-1 lead into the fifth inning.
Texas Lutheran tied the game 3-all in the top of the fifth following RBI from Cappadona and Philippus.
Pacific Lutheran struck for four runs in the seventh inning and added two insurance runs in the eighth inning to bring the game to its final score of 9-3.
Zach Longshore (Richmond/Fort Bend Travis) started and pitched four innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out six batters.
