Portion of Starcke Park East Closure

The City of Seguin will have a portion of Starcke Park East closed this week for the demolition of the Kids Kingdom Playscape. The park area surrounding the playscape including disc golf holes 1-4 and 18 will be closed during working hours only from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Following the playscape’s demolition and removal, the pea gravel surrounding the structure will also be removed and seeded for grass. CCSCT Releases Utility Assistance Application for 2023

Applications are available for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (C.E.A.P.) provided by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs through the CCSCT. The program will help low-income consumers reduce their utility bills. There is also assistance available through the Low Income Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). The Celebrate Recovery ministry at Crossroads Church meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday nights at 3455 W. Hwy 90 in Seguin. Celebrate recovery is for anyone dealing with anxiety, alcohol, depression, codependency, unforgiveness, self doubt, addiction, grief, eating disorders, relationships, anger, substance abuse, destructive behavior, spending, stress, and more. Food Connection Day

The Guadalupe County Farm Bureau will have its Food Connection Day at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at 325 S State Highway 46. The Texas Food Connection Day is an opportunity to share what is done on farms and ranches to grow our food and brings rural and urban communities together to show and share an abundant food source. Burgers will be sold for $1. All proceeds will benefit the Christian Cupboard.

Nutty Elks Artisan and Craft Show

The Elks Lodge will have its Nutty Elks Artisan and Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1331 C H Matthies Jr. in Seguin. City of Seguin Office and Library Closure

The City of Seguin non-emergency offices, including the Seguin Public Library, will be closed Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents’ Day. Offices and the Library will re-open Tuesday, Feb. 21. Garbage and recycling will be collected as normal.

The Guadalupe Appraisal District offices in Seguin and Schertz will be be closed Monday, Feb. 20 and will re-open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Black History Month Workshop at the Library

In celebration of Black History Month, the Seguin Public Library will host “The Wilcox & Moore Legacy Restoration Project Shares Stories” Workshop from 10:30 to noon Saturday, Feb. 25 in the Community Meeting Room. Jacob’s Ladder Foundation Cornhole For A Cause

Citizens Police Academy Accepting Applications

The Seguin Police Department is seeking applicants for its Citizens Police Academy 11-week course.
