Texas Lutheran University today announced that while there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the TLU campus or in the Seguin community, the university is taking precautions to ensure the health and well-being of faculty, staff, students, and the Seguin community. They say they believe they have a responsibility to institute proactive health and safety measures to decrease the spread and potential exposure of COVID-19 to vulnerable populations.
Among the measures that came out of their decision was to extend spring break by one week so students will now be out from March 16 to March 27.
They say the week of March 23-27 will be used for faculty to prepare to convert their classes to online classes. From March 30 to April 8, students will attend classes online. Prior to April 8, we will assess the COVID-19 situation and determine if we continue with online classes or if students can return The Safety and Emergency to campus. By Cindy Aguirre-Herrera (Guadalupe County) -- While there are no confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus in Seguin or Guadalupe County, it's timing has definitely disappointed a group of local youth. While most kids were spending their time at the beach or sleeping in late, an elite group of kids
from Guadalupe County were preparing for what they say was the "big show." This week's cancellation of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has unfortunately impacted several families here in the county. In the interest of public health, the city of Houston and the Houston Health Department ordered that every event of the rodeo shut down. See SHOW. page 2
