Sharing imaging documents now easier for GRMC patients
Cindy Aguirre-Herrera
(Seguin) -- Guadalupe Regional Medical Center has announced the launch of its PocketHealth, a patient-driven, no-network image sharing platform that eliminates reliance on CD-ROMs for patients and healthcare providers to access medical imaging and reports.
By implementing PocketHealth, GRMC officials say the hospital is further improving access to healthcare for more than 30,000 residents living in Seguin and surrounding communities.
“The healthcare industry is transforming to meet the needs of its patients and employees, and we’re thrilled to keep adding to the services GRMC provides to our patients and our highly skilled physicians,” said Jubelee Davis, Executive Director of Imaging Services at Guadalupe Regional
Medical Center. “By incorporating PocketHealth we’re ensuring the health system operates better, faster, and more efficiently and allows us to connect to a patient’s imaging with other healthcare sites, on any network.”

Recognized for the innovative treatment and care GRMC provides its community, patients in Seguin and surrounding areas are now able to quickly and securely access, store and share their diagnostic images and reports via digital healthcare platform, PocketHealth.
This eliminates the need for travel to GRMC to pick-up or share medical imaging on a CD-Rom. For the provider or physician, PocketHealth also saves time and resources by removing complicated network barriers and complex workflows.
“Access to diagnostic imaging through PocketHealth gives patients more control over their health care information and whom they choose to share it with, no matter their proximity to the hospital,” said Rishi Nayyar, co-founder and CEO, PocketHealth. “We look forward to working with GRMC as they continue to improve patient and referring physician experiences by eliminating network barriers. PocketHealth builds on existing access to health information within the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR) by not only sharing scans in full diagnostic quality, but also by helping patients understand their reports more clearly. With PocketHealth’s Report Reader, all imaging reports will now include definitions of complex medical terms used, giving patients more knowledge and understanding of their results so they can have more informed discussions with their referring physicians.
The platform seamlessly integrates within existing GRMC infrastructure, and allows providers and referring
physicians to instantly view or retrieve prior patient imaging, or import images locally without additional software or account setup. Patients can now request all of their imaging records from GRMC at pockethealth. com/GRMC and gain better insights into their diagnostic imaging and reports.

Women Sued For Helping Friend Get Abortion
(Houston, TX) -- Three Texas women are being sued for wrongful death after helping a woman get an abortion. This is the first such lawsuit brought since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court. The suit was filed by a man whose ex-wife terminated her pregnancy last year. Her two friends were able to buy abortion-inducing medication in Houston. That’s according to a new Gallup poll which revealed 51-percent said the pandemic isn’t quite over while 49-percent say it’s done. Despite that, only a quarter of Americans are either very or somewhat worried about coming down with COVID. Sixty-two percent also believe the situation with the virus in the U.S. is getting better.
Daylight Saving Time Returns
(Undated) -- Daylight Saving Time is back. Clocks sprung forward in most of the U.S. at 2 a.m. Sunday. Daylight Saving Time is not observed in Hawaii and Arizona, except on the Navajo Nation. With a disruption to the circadian rhythm, the body’s internal clock, the shift could have negative health impacts. Sleep researchers say between a quarter and a third of the population feels a little “down” for the first few weeks. Emergency rooms typically see an increase in cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, stroke and fatal car accidents in the week following the time change.
