Library Summer Reading Experience Enrollment Open

Enrollment for the Seguin Public Library’s “All Together Now!,” Summer Reading Experience is open for young children (ages 0 to 4), kids/ preteens (ages 5-11), teens (ages 12-17) and adults (ages 18+). Register in person or online. A library card is not required to enroll in the program. All age groups have until Thursday, July 20 to complete their gameboards for a chance at fabulous raffle prizes. The library will draw the lucky winners at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21.

Fourth of July Parade Applications

The City of Seguin Main Street program has Fourth of July Parade Applications available online at www. seguintexas.gov/fourthofjuly or at the Seguin Visitor Center, located at 116 N. Camp St. in Seguin. The application deadline is Monday, June 19.

Seguin Fire Department Fan Drive

The Seguin Fire Department Fan Drive is currently underway. Fans will be available to households (within the Seguin city limits only) that are without air conditioning. Fans can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Municipal Court/Fire Administration building, located at 660 S. Hwy 46. A picture ID and proof of residency is required. limit one fan per household. If you received a fan last year, you are ineligible this year. James Beard Awards Watch Party at Matador Stadium

The City of Seguin is partnering with the Seguin Independent School District to host a watch party to cheer on Burnt Bean Co. chefs as they vie for the coveted title of “Best Chef: Texas” during the James Beard Awards, an annual celeb ration of chefs, restaurateurs and industry leaders. The watch party will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 5 via a livestream at Matador Stadium, located at 1315 E. Cedar St. in Seguin. The livestream will be broadcast on www.eater.com.

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group

The NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group for adults with mental health conditions meets from 6:30-8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at First Methodist Church. Learn more at www.NAMIGuadalupeCounty.org.

Children Five to Nine Summer Art Classes

The Seguin Art League will offer Summer Art Classes for ages five to nine from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays through Fridays on June 6 to June 9, June 13 to June 16, June 20 to June 23, July 11 to July 14, July 18 to July 21, and July 25 to July 28 at 104 S. Austin St. in Seguin. The cost is $120 and the supplies are included. Participants will make pinch pots, foam masks, Kandinsky pieces of art, wall hangings and learn the use of patterns, texture, design, and color. The Seguin Art League will offer Summer Art Classes for ages 10 and older from 1 to 3p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays on June 6 to June 9, June 13 to June 16, June 20 to June 23, July 11 to July 14, July 18 to July 21, and July 25 to July 28 at 104 S. Austin St. in Seguin. The cost is $120 and the supplies are included. Participants will make clay boxes, print with natural found objects, make wind socks and learn to create texture, use templates, and work with color, line, and form. AA Meetings

Chamber Military Appreciation Luncheon

The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce will have its Military Appreciation Luncheon at 11:30 Wednesday, June 7 at the Silver Center, located at 510 E. Court St. in Seguin. The speakers will be Ret. Major General Juan Ayala, U.S. Marine Corp. The cost is $20 per meal for members in advance, $25 for non-members and after the Friday before the event.

Seguin Premier Toastmasters

Seguin Premier Toastmasters will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at GVEC Community Room, located at 927 SH-46 in Seguin. Toastmasters is a place to practice your speech for work or school where friendly people encourage and give tips to help you improve your communication skills. Celebrate Recovery

The Celebrate Recovery ministry at Crossroads Church meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday nights at 3455 W. Hwy 90 in Seguin. Celebrate recovery is for anyone dealing with anxiety, alcohol, depression, codependency, unforgiveness, self doubt, addiction, grief, eating disorders, relationships, anger, substance abuse, destructive behavior, spending, stress, and more. Seguin Field of Honor

The Seguin Field of Honor will have opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10 and closing ceremonies at 10 a.m. June 17 at the Faith Lutheran Church, located at 13 26 E. Cedar St. in Seguin. Smart Phone Photography Class

The Seguin Art League will offer a Smart Phone Photography Class from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at 104 S. Austin St. in Seguin. Improve your photos and learn about camera settings, flash, aspect ratio and filters. The class is for ages 16 and older. The cost is $30. Central Park Summer Concert Series

The Central Park Summer Concert Series will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each Sunday in June and the first Sunday in July. This year’s concerts feature the Dirty River Jazz Band on June 11, Grove Factor on June 18, Natalie Rose on June 25, and the San Antonio Symphonic Band performing the Patriotic Concert on July 2. The concerts are family-friendly and free. Don’t forget to bring your chair or blanket.

Science Mill Summer Camp offered by Seguin ISD

The Science Mill Summer Camp will be offered by the Seguin ISD for elementary students (those entering third through current fifth grade) the weeks of either June 12 or June 19 at Camp May Day.
