COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 009 A report from the Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University indicated that from yesterday afternoon, 18h00, until early morning the Cotopaxi volcano presented small ash emissions; however, there was no presence of rain, lahars or increased activity. At 06h30 there was an emission of vapor which descended down the west side of the volcano, without any evidence of potential harm to residents living nearby. The preventive yellow alert continues in place and we urge you to keep calm and follow the information published through the official channels of the Ministry of Security Coordination. We remind you the volcano is being monitored 24/7 in order to provide you with up-to-date information.
