Quito, 21 of September 2015 07:00 COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 75 The Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University informs that in the last 12 hours the Cotopaxi volcano maintained a moderate level of internal activity and a low level of external activity. This morning the atmosphere surrounding the volcano was clear and an emission of vapor reaching 1000 meters above the crater was observed. The seismic activity remains the same as in the last hour and slight rain falls were registered in the sector, however, there was no presence of lahars. In addition, no ash falls were reported. Actions Carried Out In Cotopaxi: Activities continue to be carried out in order to respond effectively in an eventual increase of the volcanic activity. Yesterday evening 400 residents of the neighborhood of Tandaloví Bajo of Latacunga participated in an evacuation drill towards the plaza of Tandaliví Alto. During this drill officials of the Secretariat of Risk Management, the National Police, and the Head of the parish participated.
