COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 115 The last report submitted by the Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University indicates that the Cotopaxi Volcano continues to present a moderate level of internal and external activity. Yesterday afternoon the volcano was clear and emissions of water vapor, with low ash content, were observed. These emissions reached 500 meters over the crater. During the evening, the volcano remained overcast, and no observations could be taken place. Currently, the same atmospheric conditions are present and the seismic activity remains similar to past days. This activity indicates the movement of magma and fluids in the interior of the volcano. Tremors have increased slightly and are in accordance with the exit of gases through the crater. No rains have been registers in the sector. Recommendations Know and have the evacuation routes identified. Be prepared to seek temporary shelter in a house of a family member or friend who does not live in a risk zone.
