COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 39 The Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University reports the Cotopaxi volcano continues to present a high level of internal activity and moderate levels of external activity. At this moment, there is a clear sky and you can visualize a column of ash emissions that have reached 1.5 km above the crater, headed northwest of the volcano. In addition, no rain has been registered. Last night there were bright spots in the volcano, which the Geophysics Institute explains that it could be blocks of ice or small ray emission presented by the friction of fragments of ash, a common occurrence. This type of phenomenon is also observed in the Tungurahua volcano, so the public should not be alarmed Actions Carried Out Yesterday an evacuation drill was conducted in sector 13, which encompassed an area starting from the National Sports Complex to the Los Algarrobos, in the parish of Tumbaco.
