COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 53 The Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University reported that in the last 12 hours the Cotopaxi volcano continues to maintain a high level of internal activity and a moderate level of external activity. From yesterday late evening (11 p.m.) the tremor size decreased. However, constant emissions of gas with low ash load remains, which reached 100 meters above the crater. During the night, through satellite images, an ash cloud heading westward was observed. In Cotopaxi, the Governorship performed drills in various zones, such as the residents of the neighborhood of Santa Rita, in the parish of Pastocalle and of the complex Bolaño, in Ignacio Flores who participated in such activities under the theme “Preparation and Training”.
