COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 84 The Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University informs that during the last 12 hours the internal activity of the Cotopaxi was moderate and had a low level of external activity. In the afternoon, emissions of gas and vapor were observed. These emissions had low ash content, reached 300 meters over the crater, and headed westward. Seismic activity continues in the interior of the volcano. Movement of fluids (gases) and magma are present. No rain falls nearby zones were registered. Activities Carried Out Cotopaxi: Joseguango Bajo receives communication equipment. In the rural parish of Joseguango Bajo, of the canton of Latacunga, the Integrated Security Service ECU911 gave out 25 communication radios.
