COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 91 The Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University informs that in the last 12 hours the internal activity of the Cotopaxi was moderate and the external activity was low. Last night and this morning emissions of vapor and gases were observed; these emissions had low ash content, reached 2000 meters above the crater, and headed westward. The seismic activity remains like pasts days and movements of fluids (gases) and magma have been registered. No rain falls have been registered in the sector. Recommendations Take a moment with your family to elaborate a family emergency plan. Between all of you locate temporary shelters, evacuation routes, safe zones in your community, and animal shelters. If you need information about your area of residence locate the representatives of risk management in the municipalities. The most important thing is not follow false rumors. Remember that the official spokesman is the Ministry of Security Coordination, which works together with the Geophysics Institute—a scientific and technical institution who continuously monitors the volcano.
