COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 93 The Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University informs that during the last 12 hours the internal activity of Cotopaxi was moderate while the external activity was low. In the morning, the atmosphere surrounding the volcano was clear. A column of vapor and gas heading northwest was observed and this reached up to 1000 meters over the crater. The seismic activity remains similar to past days and movements of fluids (gases) and magma were registered. No rain falls have been registered in the zone nearby. Recommendations Food, medicines, tools and other necessary items for an emergency should be kept in a special bag, located safely and within an easy reach. This will help us evacuate risks zone faster while having handy necessary items to surpass an emergency and have help from emergency response organisms.
