COTOPAXI VOLCANO PRESS RELEASE 015 The report submitted by the Institute of Geophysics of the Polytechnic University indicated that from yesterday late afternoon, 18h00, until early morning the volcanic activity has remained similar to that of the last past days. As such, there has been the presence of evaporative emissions with moderate ash, which have been directed between the West and North-West side of the volcano. These emissions have reached, in average, 1,000 meters in height over the crater. Ash falls have been registered in the following places: Cotopaxi, district of Sigchos; in the district of Latacunga the parishes of Toacaso, San Juan de Pastocalle and Mulalo; in the district of MejĂ­a in the parishes of El Chaupi, AloasĂ­, Machachi and south of Aloag; Metropolitan District of Quito the parish of Pintag, part of Uyumbicho and Tambillo. The yellow alert continues to be in place and we invite citizens to remain calm and follow the information disseminated through the website www.volcancotopaxi.com as well as by other official channels of the Ministry of Security Coordination: www.seguridad.gob.ec,Seguridad_Ec and https://www.facebook.com/SeguridadEcuador. To continue guarantying the safety of the population we remind you that the volcano is being monitored 24/7 by the Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University and the Secretary of Risk Management.
