The thesis questions how campus areas tackle climate change from environmental and social perspectives of sustainability. It aims to improve climate comfort to energise the use of open public spaces on the campus. The performance of open public spaces is assessed through climate comfort and quality in use analysis. Based on the findings; the short, mid and long term sustainable transformation interventions are applied on RWTH Aachen University campuses. The large, medium and small-scale interventions are inspired by the nature-based solutions catalogue and families.
