Potential Capital Investment Potential Job Creation/Retention

Shaw Industries Group, Inc. announced in September the company will expand its facility in South Pittsburg. The company plans to invest $40 million and create more than 25 new jobs to increase its capacity by more than 60 percent.

Entrepreneur Resource Rally Entrepreneurs and small business owners from across Northwest Georgia were invited to an Entrepreneur Resource Rally event cosponsored by the Center for Economic Research and Entrepreneurship of Dalton State College’s School of Business and the Southeast Industrial Development Association at Dalton State College on Friday, September 27. The event was a success with more than 60 attendees and six resource providers. Planning sessions are underway for an upcoming resource rally in North Carolina in Spring 2014.

On October 23, officials gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of Marion County Regional Institute for Higher Education in Kimball, TN.

Regional Workshops & Professional ED Training On October 1, SEIDA staff participated in an OPT-IN opportunity initiative in Murphy, NC.

On October 17, SEIDA staff sponsored and attended Dalton State’s CERE: “An Economic and Housing Outlook Luncheon” at the North Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

On November 6-7, SEIDA staff completed the Tennessee Business Retention & Expansion course, provided by the Tennessee Certified Economic Developer Program.
