Social-Emotional Learning, Why Is It Important For Our Children?
SEL, Social-Emotional Learning, is an important aspect of our school life in SPH PV. Especially after going through the past two years in a pandemic, SEL has become ever more important for our students' well-being.

SEL allows students to build healthy identities, manage emotions, feel and show empathy for others, establish healthy relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. SEL enables our students to become better leaders, teammates and also followers of Christ as we learn how to love others well and work with others as well as regulating ourselves.
We are using our new SEL curriculum, Peekapak, in order to promote these different SEL skills. Students are introduced to different characters and stories that help them understand the different SEL topics and real-life scenarios related to them.
We have been focusing on self-regulation as our first unit of the year, where students learn about different emotions and how to regulate themselves as they experience those emotions.
We hope to promote social and emotional growth as we introduce more stories that will move our students' hearts and allow them to understand what it means to be emotionally and socially mature, thus understanding themselves and others better.
