Greetings from Our Head of School
Dear Parents and Friends,
This past week, I had the opportunity to be a guest in our third-grade class for their Unit of Inquiry. The focus of the UOI was considering how our family history impacts our present and future. I shared a little of my heritage and challenges faced and how now, many years later, I can look back and see God’s faithfulness even through some very difficult days.

There were days where God’s plan and purposes were very unclear, times when we asked, ‘Why is God allowing this?’ Seeing how God was faithful in the life of my parents gave me strength and confidence when I faced uncertainty.
One small example I shared; In college, I had planned to be a pilot. However, an eye test changed that option for me and moved me towards education. My plan was to teach internationally but I began my teaching career at Wheaton Academy in the Chicago area. Almost 40 years later God allowed me to join SPH. Over the years as a teacher, principal, and Head of School He gave me wonderful friends, let me have an impact in the lives of many, and allowed me to be a witness to His faithfulness in times of difficulty and times of blessing.
Isaiah 25:1 says, “O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.”
The stories throughout the Bible give testimony of God’s unfolding plan of redemption and restoration across the ages. The Bible teaches us about our good Shepherd and faithful heavenly Father.
I enjoyed my time with our third graders, sharing a little about my family and experiences over the years. Thank you, third grade, for inviting me and giving me an opportunity to reflect on God’s blessings and faithfulness with you.
Whether in grade 3 or another grade, as a parent, teacher, or staff, we can be confident that God is faithful. 2 Timothy 2:13 says, “if we are faithless, He remains faithful – for He cannot deny Himself.” His faithfulness is due to His nature and does not depend on me or you or our circumstances. Praise be to God!
Because He is faithful.
